He is a hero. Used the have the drift bible on DVD. Great stuff. Did anyone spot him in Tokyo drift? hairykrishna said:
I don't think anyone was stating it was impossible, merely that it's not as easy as in a FR car. He's not called the 'Drift King' for nothing.
Bunch of women on here. Real men run their Mk1 MR2s with a whiteline rear ARB and Riken Allstar rear tyres. Wet roundabouts are virtually impossible without some sort of drift, and correcting is a challenge because front end feel is dire due to shot droplinks and dodgy bushes.

TBH, if anyone on here cannot see why someone would want or enjoy a V6 MR2, then frankly I think they should hand in their PH membership. What is not to like about a 2-seat midship car with an engine that is frankly too big for it!
I've always wanted an MR2 and I always had my heart set on a V6 version but I've ended up with a Turbo instead - still, I'm certainly not disappointed. I don't think the Mk2 is as bad as people say either FWIW, people make out as if they are some kind of heavy barge, but really, they don't feel like that to drive IMHO. Yes it does feel heavier than the others, but then its not exactly hugely heavy especially compared to modern machinery - 1250 kg aint that much these days. Even though the Mk1 is tiny, it's not actually THAT light considering its size - similar size to an Elise, and 25 years old, yet still weighs just shy of a tonne (compared to an Elise that is about 700 kg!).
One day I WILL have a V6 engined MR2, although it may well be a Mk3 (although I'd also consider one with the 190 screamer engine!)

What I love about sotw is that phers with a bit of nouse can buy a great motor for peanuts that non phers wouldn't know about let alone consider. So in that sense this is not a good sotw, however those who dislike the Mr2 and those who have criticised them on this thread have never driven or owned one, all three models are fantastic cars for the real world, gutted they stopped making them.
If I had the space/time/cash I'd have a Punt on this. It's a known conversion, so the knowledge about maintaining/running it is out there. Granted it's rough around the edges and needs the fuelling setting up, but I reckon it's worth a punt for sure. I'd put on a suit, carry a briefcase and an 80's mobile and go out baiting corsas/106's/saxos etc. Call me the anti-chav!! Is there room for some forced induction under there too?

I am sure he won't care to explain as he has probably never driven a Mk1 MR2 and therefore wouldn't know how to validate his comment.
For those of you who don't rate the Mk2 - you just can't drive.....

This video shows the Mk2 holding its own over cars that some of you don't think the MR2 deserves to be mentioned next to.
That was an entertaining video. Interesting that an MR2 GTS, which you could easily pick up for £3,000, laps Tsukuba within four hundredths of a second of the Honda NSX.For those of you who don't rate the Mk2 - you just can't drive.....
