How was he clearly breaking the law when being overtaken- by following dft advice of not moving back to the kerb in between parked cars? Or by keeping some distance from parked cars to avoid being doored? Or some other crime not apparent during the overtake?
Perhaps akirk meant the pavement riding.Mave said:

You're estimating. Which means you don't really know.No measurement is 100% accurate, except the one that defines it. Everything else is an estimate.
The comment you responded to suggested the pass was too close. What distance do you think is too close? Because I am confident that pass was too close by my definition.
Without being there at the time it's impossible to tell.St John Smythe said:

Unless you have that exact model camera its's impossible to tell. Things can appear closer/further away dependent on the type of lens.
I disagree. If you look at the rear view at about 8 seconds you can judge how much space there is by scaling from the width of the car. At about 11 seconds you can see what proportion of that gap is to the left of the camera, and what proportion is to the right. I'd estimate at most 50cm from the camera to the car.The comment you responded to suggested the pass was too close. What distance do you think is too close? It does amaze me that someone so aggressive and violent as that driver is still allowed to drive.
It doesn't make a scrap of sense at any level.
No wonder many feel there is a sense of entitlement over driving.
Agreed. I mean why would the cyclist wind the situation like that up on purpose? Must be a mentalist. It doesn't make a scrap of sense at any level.

Edited to add: just looked at his tube channel. He's nuts!

I've just watched this now I'm home after reading PH comments during the day. I cant believe some posters "they're both as bad as each other" comments. Other videos might make the cyclist look like a bit of a twit but his initial approach was actually very reasonable. The driver was an utter, utter tw*t and even fell into a ridiculous stereotype at one point with "Why don't you get a car?" Possibly a typical fat lazy car driver that cant stand seeing people slimmer and fitter than him.

I amazes me that people think they can go around being abusive to other road users with impunity because they have a camera mounted on their stupid head.
How abusive? Was there any swearing or threats from the cyclist, beyond threatening putting the film on youtube?I imagine anything the cyclist did was in reaction to the way he was spoken to.
But am I alone in thinking that it's wrong that someone who threatens to kill someone over nothing, and the sheer aggressiveness and language from the outset, is still allowed to drive? It's just wrong.
I can't help thinking that while drivers like that are out there, the rest of us deserve what we get. (Although apart from speeding, this vid is yet another bit of proof that drivers can get away with near murder - or certainly threats to.)

I think everyone in this thread has said the driver is an aggressive knob.I imagine anything the cyclist did was in reaction to the way he was spoken to.

Have a good look at the guys YT channel and you might see what his game is.

So chasing after someone because you think they are 'in the wrong' and in the process almost colliding with an unsighted pedestrian and another cyclist (who was forced to brake sharply although they had right of way) was all done before he was spoken to. Pathetic wannabe vigilante behaviour.I imagine anything the cyclist did was in reaction to the way he was spoken to.

You are correct. I was surprised when I actually saw the clip after reading some of the comments on here. He was very reasonable. Some people just want to have a go at the cyclist.
Pause the video at 11 seconds, how much room would you say the cyclist had to his left ?Ghibli said:

other than being the only one of the two to clearly break the law?!
cycling on a pavement is an offence. (admittedly later, but when someone is being so virteous and posting in public to criticise someone else, it might be worth starting the process by checking your own behaviour...)
... some stuff...
I was quite clear on what I was referring to... cycling on a pavement is an offence. (admittedly later, but when someone is being so virteous and posting in public to criticise someone else, it might be worth starting the process by checking your own behaviour...)
... some stuff...
There is only one clear breach of the law - unless you wish to start to get into the agression, where perhaps both might be found guilty
And that is riding on the pavement...
the point being made is quite simple - if you see your life as a crusade to publish the wrongs of others it is pretty foolish to post video which shows you breaking the law!
I am not judging the driver - personally, had I been the cyclist I don't think it would have bothered me, I certainly wouldn't set out to make it into an issue as the cyclist did - but from the evidence we can see the overtake didn't appear to be either unusual or particularly tight... so while it might not have been perfect I suspect it was no different to 10s of 1,000s of overtakes every day in London / Birmingham / Manchester / etc. A move which results from the need to have different traffic on the same road, and to live together in crowded places...
What we can say is that the motorist didn't blatantly break the law - at worst he didn't drive perfectly.
However the cyclist did break the law - and deliberately - which makes him a bit silly to post a video showing that, and claiming the moral high ground...
I guess that hypocrisy is never pretty!

If you go looking for trouble, don't be surprised if you find it. Hopefully next time he'll get a proper kicking from someone a bit fitter.
What a grade A moron.
But he didn't and the silly fat angry man fell on his fat face. ( may have to watch that bit again)What a grade A moron.
Next time the motorist may try and assault someone who will give him proper hiding, that wouldn't be quite ads funny, but he may learn a lesson
