It's certainly quite a collection of "looks" - MX5 front end, and then the back is a mix of supra with a bit of a Porsche tail light bar "swoosh" above. Doors are a surprise. I am thinking I'd feel a bit of a nob getting out of scissor doors in a regular-joe car, but then I suppose tesla kicked it off with their gull-wings.
As for the weight question - it's a fair one. Thing is, fat people don't care about cars' dynamic handling much. They just need big cup holders for Maccy D's. You don't see fat racing drivers. If you've owned anything light and fast you'll know that weight really kills the fun no matter how trick the electronic suspension is. You just can't undo inertia. BUT - 99% of people don't drive a car in the manner that the weight matters - they just don't care.
Good luck to them - it looks "OK". It certainly seems to be attacking the E-MX5 buyer.
What an odd post. I'm 6'1" and 16st, which is probably a couple more than I should be due to middle age and Hobnobs. As for the weight question - it's a fair one. Despite this, I appreciate and indeed enjoy lightweight performance vehicles in the form of our Civic and TVR, not to mention our motorbikes.
BTW - I can tell the difference in performance in all my cars with and without a passenger - even my more powereful cars - you lose a certain "punch" to the performance (including TVRs, Westies, R8 etc). We weigh a lot! even when "regular" sized.

With many manufacturers stopping/suspending electric car manufacturing, why is it electric? I would love to buy one but not electric. Wouldn’t it be great to make it eFuel, it would push the petrol suppliers to make it available at local petrol stations, perhaps encouraging petrol car users to start using it!
? sounds like wishful thinking. Most of the new cars featured are electric. Hanging on to fossils when people want unlimited transport, energy and economic activity is daft. Griffith4ever said:
Your not "fat" at 16st, 6ft-1.
Debatable. We've become so used to seeing fat people that it seems normal, but taking teh WHO's figures, for someone with a vaguely normal amount of musgle (ie not a body builder) the upper limit of healthy body-weight for 6'1 is about 14 stone. But the difference between 14 stone and 16 stone is bugger all when it comes to the weight of any car heavier than a Caterham! It's about a quarter of a tank of fuel in most petrol cars. You've got to be really, REALLY, fat for your weight to make an appreciable difference to the way a modern mainstream car drives.

A long time ago I landed a Ford Fusion courtesy car while my company Mondeo was in for service, and ever since then I partly base my car buying decisions on what the crappiest courtesy car I could end up with if it had to go in the dealer for work. My logic seems to have served me well since.
MG Cyberster = MG3
Sorry I'm out!
If everyone used that logic, some makers of some very good cars would have gone bust MG Cyberster = MG3
Sorry I'm out!

I remember driving 4 adults up to Anfield years back in my Sierra XR4x4 to watch Liverpool play, and that felt properly sluggish with us all in it as well.

Chinese built; Fully Electric, stupid doors....and about £20k too much - No thanks; And that's from an MG fan.
They should have aimed more at an MX5 equivalent, as MG are not a premier brand. They should have made it all petrol...Or hybrid - But NOT fully electric. Those doors, i dont like - Look like something some "oik" would do to his hot-hatch
A nice 2nd hand F-Type or Boxter, for 1/2 the price would be my preferred choice.
The Chinese just don't understand the brand they've bought / "Stolen" from us.
It's not 1960 any more. MG died like the rest of the UK car industry because it made badly engineered crap cars. Now we are being moved to EV's and will buy a lot of them from China. It's what happens. They should have aimed more at an MX5 equivalent, as MG are not a premier brand. They should have made it all petrol...Or hybrid - But NOT fully electric. Up until I started buying reasonably quick cars, I could always feel the difference in weight when you were 4 up. I remember my old E61 520d feeling as gutless as hell when it was fully loaded with us and stuff for example.

Even in something quicker you can feel it, anyone who can’t isn’t interested. But, it’s similar to some claiming that you can’t tell of a car isn’t front, or rear wheel drive unless you’re on the limit. HIF Global, who aim to become the world's largest producer of e-fuel have an ambitious target to supply 5 million cars worldwide by 2035.
Out of 1.5 billion cars...
Less than 0.5% of cars.
I think it's highly unlikely that an entry level sports car will be at the front of the queue.
You average affordable roadster / coupe / sportscar from BMW, Audi, Toyota, Mercedes etc.. will all be electric. Sustainable fuels will only work for the most niche of use cases.

With the US about to ban Tick Tock, and MI5 confirming UK Universities are being targeted, and whilst I'm well aware just about everything manufactured comes from China, but when a product is owned and run by the Chinese government it really makes me wonder if ethically, funding, and giving your data to them is a great idea.

As Jimmy Kimmel pointed out, you can't blame America for wanting to ban Tik Tok when it's already banned in China.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68902636

I find it comical that an ‘MG’ is being compared to an upcoming Porsche.
Shows the rise of one brand and the slide of another.
Spec for spec, I’d bet the Porsche costs 75% more and is within 10% of the size and weight.
It shows nothing about their brand image at all. It's purely the fact that at £55k for a convertible "sports car", it's the same price as one of the definitive current sports cars, the Boxster, with which it shares a 2 seater convertible layout. And coincidentally Porsche are about to release a new electric one of those.Shows the rise of one brand and the slide of another.

I don't think anyone has said they'd take the MG over a Porsche either. Quite the opposite in fact.
I don't think the people buying (leasing) these would consider the Boxster. This is a car that will appeal to company users as an alternative to the usual salary sacrifice cars. The overall cost difference between one of these and a petrol Porsche with a similar list price will be huge.
Your own money, no salary sacrifice? I don't think anyone on this thread would take the MG over a Boxster, and the comparison really isn't one that reflects well in the MG.
