Totally agree with you, what a tragic waste of a classic car that's getting rarer and rarer thanks to situations like these...

These cars are rare because most were either broken for parts,or hardly ever used.

The cynic in me says that the picture of the screw is a little too perfect.
What do you mean by that? Someone's crouched down and taken a photo using a phone or camera with a flash. What's overly perfect about it?Anyway, it's looking more and more like the screw can be discounted so it's a bit of a moot point.
However, it matters not really.
So, now that the Plasterboard screws have been removed from the investigation, in terms of them being a cause, I'm interested to know whether the police will be looking for who placed them, as perhaps they were a deliberate attempt to falsify evidence.

I have also heard who was driving the Seat Leon that this Cossie was supposedly *not* racing, and they were heard to say that he was doing 110mph when the Cossie came past him like he 'was standing still'.
Interesting I thought.

Cheers for looking, sounds strange for a dual carridge way. With that and the pic on the other page 80mph would have been going a bit quick. Infact based on that pic a entry speed of 80mph looks far too quick. Bearing in mind everyone in the car is seriously injured or worse there seems no solid evidence on the speed. Had it been 80 it would seem reckless, but no real proof.
It's a road that could very happily be a 70mph limit along there. The houses are behind either a fence or a wall, and there's nothing on the other side for people to cross to at that point. If anyone really did want to cross, there are bridges and underpasses. If I'm ever test riding a bike in East London, and want a place to safely get a bit of speed up, then that's the piece of road that I'd pick. It's busier now than it used to be, but is still deserted at some times of day, with good visibility, a good surface, and no pedestrians.

Interesting point. I certainly wouldn't put it beyond the realms of possibilty. But surely if it was PTCOJ the perpatrators would have used generic screws and gloves. Edited by Rich_W on Saturday 28th August 12:09
