VW Transporter T4 wing vent welded in to mk2 golf wings and other VAG cars.
And those cross hair lights come to mention it...
Never mind that, look at that door skin... The time and MIG wire spent on that vent could have been MUCH more profitably used.

As for factory mods, what happened to huge amounts of chrome, huge engines, tiny pillars, massive fins, bench seats, column shifters, stupidly soft suspension, ride heights that would be useless here.... Basically what happened to those late 50s yank tanks compared to the miserable namby-pamby boxes people drive now?
I bought one last week...everything you said there, and more.

Wings West Jap body kit (no downforce)
Shaved door handles (inconvenient)
Bomex aero door mirrors (with door poppers underneath)
Angel Halo headlights (terrible light)
Lexus rear lights (look awful)
Chrome mesh grills (naf)
Sunstrip (blocks view)
Oversized alloys (ruining handling)
Apex coilovers (rock hard and rusty)
Shopping list stickers (advertising for thieves)
Big bore decat exhaust (lost power)
Fire extinguisher on A pillar (blocked view)
Blue and chrome dash dials
Carbon shell FIA race seats with 3 point harnesses in a road car (uncomfortable, awkward and unsafe belts)
Alloy show cage (will crack and kill you in a crash)
FAKE NOS! (??)
Massive stereo (sounded terrible)
Clifford alarm (rarely worked, locked me out of the car often meaning I had to climb through the boot to reach doors)

I actually bought this Redline Magazine car before stripping nearly everything off it, sold all the parts (inc bodykit) for a large profit, fixed and resprayed it Imola Orange metallic in an Honda OEM+ style. Kept the carbon bonnet, aero mirrors, Momo wheel, Pentagon anti-smash tinted glass, mugen rear spoiler. It's up for sale soon looking very different!

Yep - looking at the amount of aftermarket bits and bobs from that picture alone it was way down on the priority list clearly!

Those cheap, round silencers with a massive 3-4-5" tip straight out the back that are painted badly in red you see on the back shelf of most motorfactors? That's a cherry bomb. Basically it looks a bit like a silencer for the MOT man but does no silencing.

My mistake. For some reason the link wouldn't copy / paste as clickable without wrapping it in [url] tags first. Not that it matters anyway - had the poster read the thread, the answer to their question was posted just a few pages in wink

Nice thread.

I miss the carefree boy racer mods from 10 years ago.. Nobody cared, people just did what they wanted. It was all neon lights, multiple big exhausts, painted interiors, and aftermarket seats..

Now it's all become rather snobbish hasn't it? You can't just have fun, you have to be practical, because lap times and numbers somehow matter more. The reality is those extra few horsepower of the modern day modder brings far less enjoyment than any of the homemade nonsense did in the 90s and early 00s..

I wish the joy would return.

O/T, but the Citroen Xantia had a keypad for the immobiliser as standard.

Back on topic, devil horns. Basically Subaru or Evo wing uprights with nothing inbetween. MR2 here, but usually fitted to a Saxo/106/Fiesta

Yeah, I may have over sold it with the MR2 picture hehe . This is a more realistic example.
