Sorry if this has been mentioned before but if you want to see a constant line of supercars just hang around the side streets of Harrods for a couple of hours. After a while you get bored by seeing so many Lambos and Fezza's etc. They just become part of the landscape. The only people you see paying them any mind are the tourists,.... sad but true

Just catching up on this excellent post - good work tigerkoi.

I saw a BMW 645 this week with an equivalent grille to the CLS above. Very odd. Plate was BMW 6L. Didn't manage any pics (had to pick my jaw back up) but guess others may have seen it/ know about it.
Same car ?

BRGBert - I think you are 100% correct. I'm not hugely up on TVR's [ducking down], and I would have just glanced back and just saw 'T.....'.

B(Route) - not sure which one you mean? None of the G-Wagen pics have a covered car in them do they? Or do you mean the vehicle that I speculate looks like a hotrod?

sleep envy - Afraid not! The only place I take a proper camera is the ski slopes.....

Streetrod - where do you think a load of these pics are from wink. Honestly though, yeah you can get bored from seeing one too many Ferraris or Lamorghinis. It's the extreme iterations that make your jaw drop. The matt black paintjobs and the garish Gemballa makeovers. Some are like Miro paintings. I wouldn't put them up in my hall, but they certainly make you look.

spotted some nice cars over the weekend, though i need to be much quicker with a phonecam to be able to add to this thread.

endless porsches, too many to list.

super shiny black bmw z1 driving through lincoln town centre friday night. smokin

vw splitty camper on the a1 nr cambridge

tvr tuscan in wembley ikea

2 x phantoms, a maybach and countless s-class mercs on edgeware road. lovely grey old shape 6 series there on sunday too smile

black bmw 8 series on deep dish schnitzer alloys in harrow. was badged up as an alpina but i am 99% certain it wasn't. am 1000% certain the 'C32 amg' next to it was a con. note to the bmw driver - shut your sunroof when parked up in the pissing down rainwink

by far the most hideous spot was a range rover at marble arch. black, bodykitted with tinted windows & huuuuge alloys. so far, so common, but this one had a luminous orange roof, orange side vents & bonnet detailing, and orange highlights on the alloys. a man of taste i'm sure hurl

The Z1 always turns my head. For a major manufacturer to just come out with a little roadster with doors that pop down - BMW sometimes comes up with these oddballs. The Z3 Coupe....
And I'm a big fan of the 8. Shame, no piccies frown

yeah it is strange how they decided to follow up the z1 with the z3. better for the 1 though, makes it even more of a classic.

i'll be spending more time around w2 when i'm in london from now on, so i'll be quicker on the draw re: pics. am a big fan of the 8 series myself, but this one had seen better days. alloys kerbed to buggery, very grimy all round, wannabe alpina, plus a newly sodden interior.....

forgot to mention. we were driving along when an amv8 vantage pulled out in front of us. dark grey and looked like it had been detailed recently. i made some comment about how nice looking they are to the OH, with her reply being that is was 'horrendous'. when questioned, she said she'd prefer 'that one' - a fiat punto crossing our path - to the aston any day of the week. rolleyes

i had previously ignored her views on cars [i.e. whats the point in car going over 70mph etc.] but this took the biscuit. if anyone is laying a patio this week i could use a favour.......

Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG. I think Eric Clapton had one of these. Fully kitted out with the best Linn or whatever hi-fi system. If you are going to 4x4 it, do it properly; get a G-Wagen. The ultimate.

Looks like a carrera GT from the side photo but not the front.... didnt see any other photos of it in the rest of the post

well at least i can afford a punto!

she hates all modern supercars. passing through bond street seeing all the ferraris/lambos etc. gets no response.

classic convertibles and 50's yank metal are more her cup of tea - sees herself as more breakfast at tiffany's than a sex in the city kind of girl. this would be admirable, but a punto over an amv8 is too much!

I've had a real close up look and poke around this car while at an event at the Ace Cafe. It's most definitely not a convertible. Its a canvas type material stretched overthe roof. Euro style is what I think he's aiming for.

OK, so I was in London over the weekend and partly due to this thread, partly due to sheer amazement at the car 'population' of London this summer, I thought I'd have a crack at the best places on Saturday. After several hours wandering in Mayfair, Kensington, Knightsbridge and a few other places, this is what I saw. Just another weekend day in Central London.

Of course we all know the Arabic plated cars dominate the, "Sweet Jesus that's amazing..." type comments, so here are a few of those to begin with:

The infamous white Veyron seen of course lapping Harrods! I did hear someone say, "16 cylinders and he's barely gone above 20mph!" which did amuse me!

The most common hypercar by far appears to be the SLR. I saw 6 of various models and hues on Saturday, starting with this utterly filthy matte black SLR722 which was sat on a little side street behind the Jumeriah Hotel!

Of course you can always go to another extreme and go for matte White!

Or just ignore the matte finishes and have one with no roof, which rather upstages other prestige convertibles like the 997 Carrera parked next to it!

Or finally just get a black SLR722 and be done with it!

This unique and frankly horrendous Gemballa Mirage GT didn't move much during the weekend, taking residence in the Jumeriah Hotel's car park entrance

Arabs are of course known for a modification or two and the first two of this trio didn't dissapoint. What Hamann can do to a Murcielago with a few bits of chrome versus what Novitec do to a 599! The LP640 Roadster behind seemed to be standard! Of course the LP was at Hans Crescent later in the evening!

Another LP640 Roadster on Sloane Street with a 599, Merc S65 and Cayenne for company. There was an F430 just about in shot in the other direction too!

I spotted this CLK63 AMG Black Series hidden in a car park in the morning, but come the evening it was out to play... at Hans Crescent of course!

...and just behind the SLR Roadster was this 599. One of 4 different red 599s I saw, all on Arabic plates!

Of course why stop at modifying supercars, when there are super saloons to play with? This Lumma CLR 500 based on the M5 sounds like a Nascar!

Beyond super saloons come 4x4s like these three, the unique Range Stormer which was getting more attention than many of the supercars, the Rinspeed Chopster and the Techart Magnum. Also around were various Gemballa modded Cayennes and some form of Hamann modified Merc GL550!

Other things of note included these three. A stunning CL65AMG of which I saw two identical bar the number plates! Next is the stunning black DBS and finally, a huge white barge, one of several I saw!

And finally, just to show that not all the Arabic cars are crazy modified supercars, we have the Smart Crossblade which was getting attention wherever it went and the matte black Cooper S!

I was lucky enough to stumble (quite literally) on this show outside the Intercontinental Hotel which turned out to be the Saudi Gulf Trade Show! I am sure a few of these cars will end up in the Middle East only to be shipped back to London for next summer.

First up, another Veyron.

Then this SLR, sporting a rather expensive number plate from the Kahn stable and of course some new wheels.

Also from the Khan stable we have this Bentley GT with a rather cool plate and shockingly bad wheels and a Range Rover with much the same combination! I did see a Khan special Range Rover Sport in black with orange bonnet and orange wheels around Mayfair too. It sounded nice, but I couldn't understand the need to paint the wheels orange!

There was also this Phantom with Khan's own plate, a Ferrari 612 and AMV8 Roadster.

I'll sort through some other photos a bit later and come up with the best of British and in keeping with the thread, some rarities and down right randoms! Time for a nice cold beer in the sunshine thumbup

OK so time for a few UK registered cars. Of course the Arabic registered cars outshone the Brits by a mile (about the length of a lap round Harrods and Hans Crescent funnily enoughwink), but there were plenty of nice cars around all the same. Unfortunately I didn't manage a photo of the best I saw, a red Ferrari Enzo, but here are plenty more all the same!

Second best of the Modenese stallions has to be this stunning F430 Scuderia. I know a PHer had a very similar plate to this, so not sure if this is his new car. Either way, just stunning. I heard it blast past the Albert Hall, then here it is later parked behind Harrods.

There were loads of other Ferraris including this silver 599. I saw two almost identical, but only caught this one on camera down a side street in South Kensington.

Also saw various F430 Spiders, both Arabic and UK, I think about 5 in total including these two.

There were also a few 612s around the place including one in South Kensington that was heading into an underground car park and sounded like it was meant to go racing! The one pictured was playing with the crazy supercars behind Harrods.

Ferraris seemed to be everywhere in Belgravia including these two. A shiny new F430 and a 360 Spider.

I saw plenty of other modern Ferraris - 360s, 355s, a 348, 456s - and finally below, this 550 Maranello in Bayswater about to be eaten by a rather fat American!

I also saw a couple of classic Ferraris. The first was this 246 Dino in South Kensington and a few moments later the second which I am not sure about. I thought maybe some kind of 330?

One final point for the Italians comes from this stealthy Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT which was rather black!

Ze Germans also had plenty of contenders on Saturday including countless 997 Turbos and a few much more interesting (in my opinion at least) classic 930s and earlier 911s. My favourite of all though was this 993 Turbo 4S in Belgravia!

Last of all I'll showcase some British Beef from Aston and Bentley.
First up is this stunning Aston Martin DBS which pulled up as I was admiring the Gemballa Mirage GT!

Also from Newport Pagnell, this N400 Coupe (one of 3 N400s I saw on Saturday) with a Vanquish S parked right across this Belgravia street!

A little bit further into Astons history, we get these two. The brutal V8 Vantage and the stunning (and still with wing mirror hanging off!) DB7 Zagato.

There were of course plenty of Bentleys around. I saw 3 GT Speeds on Saturday. The two in black were nice, but I prefer this red example!

...and finally, a classic 1990s Bentley, the Azure. I also saw examples in black and in gold. All three were of course in Mayfair!
