I' don't like it enough to put the money or time in tbh. I mostly owned it to free up some cash, so the hunt is on for something suitably budget friendly to replace it.
I couldn't agree more. After my land rovers as first cars (S1 and a swb lightweight drop landy) I had a 900i. A few cars later I had a T16. Now they were proper cars.I' don't like it enough to put the money or time in tbh. I mostly owned it to free up some cash, so the hunt is on for something suitably budget friendly to replace it.
The modern Saabs I've owned and driven have all, without fail, been total and utter cack.

There was a (not quite so thoroughly) tweaked Herald estate I posted on here a year or two ago and it looked fantastic.
Would be a great Goodwood Revival picnic vehicle
ETA
In fact I think it may have had Vitesse running gear
Edited my edit to add.....found it

Gentlemen of the thread.
Pick the following as your scuderia:
BMW E39 530iA Sport, Porsche 928 GT manual, Porsche 944 tarmac rally car.
BMW E39 M5, Porsche 944 Turbo, Porsche 944 tarmac rally car.
Porsche 996 CSR, Porsche 944 tarmac rally car.
Am in the process of a shuffle. Rally car staying, obv.
This is more or less what I'm considering. Am a bit stumped. Really want them all but struggling to find more that about 25k in cash money.

I must say that option 1 is the favourite for me also. Basically it's as easy as just buying the 928 as I already have the other 2.
The CSR or a derivative is an itch I've got to scratch sooner or later though. I've not had a 911 for ages and miss one in my life, especially one I can smash the living st out of on road and track.

Keep the 5 series for daily duties. Buy a "gentleman's racer" 911- thinking Group N spec, MSA logbooked, caged, with a few mods, but commutable. Drive it to work on Friday. Track day Saturday. Rally Sunday. Peel the numbers off and back to work Monday.
In fact, I know of just the car.

You've already got the 530i, just convert it to manual. Now where would someone find all the necessary parts in one place...............
Assuming that would cost about 1.5 bags then the sums don't add up really. Plus I quite like it as a slush box. The 944 gives me my snickety snick.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
