New car painted wrong colour

Never going to be in my price range to buy one of these, but am i the only one thinking that looks like a barry boy Aston. The Satin Silver looks great but the kit is bloody awful
I can see your point as the body kit makes it look 'unfinished'. I realise its meant to look like a race car but (for me) there is too much of a contrast between the car and the body kit. rkwm1 said:
If the car was a darker colour then it may be less obvious or with some stickers like the press ones to bring the two together.

As usual, I'm late to the party on this- will be interesting to see what solutions are offered by Mr Palmer/AM- but (and I know this ground has already been covered):
Given that a new GT8 can't be built, and financially speaking, the OP would be mad to reject the silver car, and to top it off, the car was ordered in a satin finish, surely this lends itself perfectly to a satin grey vinyl wrap of the right shade of grey? Done by the most reputable company around, paid for and documented by AM, plus additional goodwill gestures e.g. servicing or priority list for next ltd edition build.
I know the OP has said he's not a fan of wraps, but this is probably the best compromise all round? Especially as the OP has now said that it still looks awesome in satin silver. I know it's not what was ordered, and I would be absolutely gutted in this same situation, but it's pretty clear that Aston Martin are not going to build another GT8, are they? A total factory respray would cost the earth too (I guess this would be the ultimate solution) so I would be surprised (but impressed) if this was offered.
At this point we do not even know who made the mistake, three choices:Given that a new GT8 can't be built, and financially speaking, the OP would be mad to reject the silver car, and to top it off, the car was ordered in a satin finish, surely this lends itself perfectly to a satin grey vinyl wrap of the right shade of grey? 1) OP - signed an order with the wrong colour
2) Dealer - sent through order with wrong colour
3) Aston Martin - painted it wrong colour
Take your pick. Nothing in this thread to make any sort of decision, zero facts available.
If you've been dreaming about an Aston for 'over 20 years'. I'm assuming you fell in love with the then; gentleman, elegant, subtleties of Aston Martins of that era.
Why have you then ordered a car that looks something along the lines that the Project Kahn design department would reject as being too over the top?
Just curious. The V8 Vantage has slowly got more and more gopping since launch.

Dealers have been very good. Also AM have been very good. Just awaiting final confirmation of offer but just be a satisfying outcome.
Sorry no pictures of OP.

Thanks . i have seen Scintilla but not the satin version. Nice.
That colour looks fantastic. I have to say that having seen photos of the car I'm not a fan of the silver either. I don't particularly like the colour or how it contrasts with the bodykit Edited by cayman-black on Tuesday 17th January 11:34

1) If a order form with wrong colour had been signed i would have accepted the car as it came. Order does say Satin Scintilla.1) OP - signed an order with the wrong colour

I'm not sure who's error it is, but i have told that more robust procedures are to be put in place to stop it happening again.
Not trolling, just my opinion;
I hope it looks better in the flesh than the pics - for me the black/silver is a very harsh contrast, whereas the darker grey/black would be less two-tone.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and good new the OP is getting what he wants. Hope it's a decent slice though as the journey from "no way am I having the car" to "I love it and everything's OK" has been a quick one.
My preference would have been to be sent back to the fatory to be re-worked to my spec - with a full paint inspection prior to reassembly (by me).
Congrats OP on realising a dream!

When the V8 Vantage arrived in 2005, i was lucky enough to have one for a week or so and then decided that i would get myself a Vantage at some point.
For sure the GT8 may not to be to everybody's taste but i think it looks pretty much perfect and for me at this point in gives me what i want from a car and is a AM.
