RE: The PH Driving Challenge

Fair play to you matt the first to dish out the credit to duncan this is how it should be, nice one!
For anyone who has driven around the top gear track and been timed will without doubt take their hat off to the top times up on the leader board, man thats quick driving, and yeah brave pants are needed !

I'm sure the skill and experience required to get a 1.17 lap is way above the abilities of most drivers, certainly even in Duncan's car I'd not be anywhere near that ! The Dax Rush is the fastest of its kind but it takes an exceptional driver to get the best out of it. Well done Duncan, incredible time !

Been keeping track of this site.So good to see ingenuitivness overcoming so much competition.Good luck boys. When is this car running again?
Karen, Duncan should be running the Dax Rush Hayabusa Turbo next at "Time attack" at the end of July (check out dates!)Not sure if Mr Cowper will settle for joint Top Gear track official record, like all magicians is there something else up his sleeve? watch this space!

Sorry to go off topic
As you can all see - Duncan Cowper has now equalled the Top Gear lap record in his Dax Rush Hayabusa Turbo; equalling the Koenigsegg lap record. In a car that is a few thousand pounds (like 300) cheaper!
Duncan was on standard E-marked road tyres, pump fuel, no corners on the track were cut, so it is a real acheivement - but both Plans and Duncan still think it can be improved upon.
The video of the lap can be seen here:

Still we've got a long way to go to this

Andy Wallace was down at Plans Motorsport last week for a test with us to do some work with a British sports car manufacturer.
Once that had finished, for a laugh, we stuck him in one of our cars (a Lotus Motorsport Elise) to do the PH Driving Challenge.
Andy Wallace is one of the world’s best sports car drivers. He won the 1986 British Formula 3 championship and the 1998 World Sports Car championship. He has won all the premier endurance races including Le Mans 24hrs in 1988; the Daytona 24hrs (three times); and the 12 Hours of Sebring (twice).
Well, he was never going to break any records as the car was not quick enough, and he had never driven an Elise before. He hadn't actually driven a race car with a conventional gearbox, or relatively little downforce, for a long time.
Graham (MD of Plans) said "we get a few promising young drivers coming down to us to do the PH Driving Challenge. Andy shows promise, and with a little coaching could do well"

let me use your car and I will see what I can do Hi Guys,
I haven't had opportunity to have a look back through the thread, but I was wondering what the noise limits are for this ?
I'm contemplating setting up a leaderboard for Nissan Skylines - but there have been comments with regard to noise issues at Dunsfold and the likelyhood that us Skyline owners would be told where to go !
Any info. you guys can offer would be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Darren

very nice to watch, Duncan is smooth and very quick in the Dax.. are there any more cars lined up to do any more runs? would it be possible to put up seperate times for the top 10 in the wet and dry please?Duncan was on standard E-marked road tyres, pump fuel, no corners on the track were cut, so it is a real acheivement - but both Plans and Duncan still think it can be improved upon.
