RE: PH Fleet: Ferrari 599 GTB
Discussion

Its Tony from the Haymarket office here, you don't know me but I do some of the web site work.....
I understand there is a new car in the CarPool, and I see from the roster its not been booked out by anyone else this weekend.....
When can I pick up the keys...? Oh, and could you ensure its been cleaned when you return it....?
Cheers
Tony

Man Maths at work.
Deposit - £50K
Ballon Payment - 500K
Monthly Payment - £741.57 per month over 5 years at 5.9%
Keep car for a bit, sell it and hope it clears the bubble. Check for penalty clauses for clearing the finance early and there you go. Job done and a zonda in your garage.
See, that's the problem with threads like this on PH: as if my own Man Maths aren't enough... - These are legit figures

On topic: Chris, well done! I can only imagine the humongous grin on your face each and every time you go out and drive it!
Way back when - not so long ago actually - you could walk into you Ferrari dealership, pick up your F430 (that you'd sensibly ordered many moons ago) pay for it on 100% INTEREST ONLY FINANCE(!!) with a massive ballon and low monthlies and drive off for six months fun then sell at list or well over having at worst only had to meet a few monthly payments (and even those were sometimes covered by your profit). Did that and the same with my early AMV8 and 997GT3. Ah, those were the days!!

this is so funny... you cant fit 2 tires in it. I guess you need to call the wife or a mate to help with transport, I thought you have an old Land Rover laying around for this job.Roof.

WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST BE FRIENDS???!!!???!!!
Here's how my man maths works:
-Is the motor daft and desirable enough to warrant the discussion in the first place?
-Can I find some way, however contrived, of gathering up the purchase price?
-Can I get it insured?
-Do I honestly give a st what others think about how I'm able to afford it?
-Is there enough hours in the day to enjoy it?

Bravo. Whilst I obviously don't set out to try and loose money, once I buy a car I genuinely don't think about depreciation/whatever. I just DRIVE and ENJOY it. If either of those things are likely to be restricted by worrying about the £s I simply don't buy. Other than your essential a to b transport anything else is an unnecessary 'fun' purchase and should be made with money you happy to, possibly, never see again. IMHO.Here's how my man maths works:

Only proves that Oracle can't match the deal from Ferrari Financial Services, doesn't it?
Chris, don't know why you think you should try and defend your reasoning against people like this. Screw them. I have done the same thing on Lambos and Ferraris and yeah you might lose a bit but the time you had with the car makes up for it by miles. Sexual Chocolate said:

Do we think he ought to put a sports exhaust on it? My vote is yes because it does frankly sound like an Enzo and at full blast its got ehs scream of an f1 car. That v12 is in the top 3 best sounding engines of a modern car in my book, other 2 being the Murci v12 and the 7.3 v12 in the Zonda.
Its hard to make the maths work for a purchase like this, because how do you quantify the enjoyment of driving a Ferrari each day?
Chris, do you park it where you can give it that last look each night whilst smiling like an excited schoolboy.
Nothing beats having the car you want on your drive, and it helps you forget about the costs for a while.
