Ooh, the latter is interesting. Edward Turner retired not far from here, Ockley, on the A29 Stane Street, Surrey/Sussex borders. I take it the Majestic is just too far gone to restore?

- I'd also like an LS7-powered Vauxhall Omega Elite that would look factory standard from the outside, except for dual branch exhausts.

this raises 2 thoughts in my head. -

2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Omega#Omega_V8 - they nearly made one with an ls1 but were worried about it melting on the autobahn!!

still, would be a brilliant q- car - plod used the v6 which was fairly quick but an ls powered one would be mental.

My brother has a VW camper van (early 70s) and has told me a couple of times he knows someone that has an old VW camper van fitted with a Dodge Viper engine, I think mid mounted IIRC. Never seen it myself and next time i see him ill ask if he has any photos.
Unless anyone on here knows of it?

They are offering 1000bhp for around £30k+vat, that seems pretty good value to me considering what it is.

When day dreaming at college many years ago, I saw a twin engined kit car and hatched an idea about doing the same with a A series metro van. It ended up being a space framed, turbocharged, twin engined standard looking van.

I didn't pass that year at college.
Zcars made a twin engined powertrain for Tiger Sportscars. Loads of info on the net about it, and it appeared on Fifth Gear.

I love that engine. The noise of a V8 singing at 10K rpm on ITBs. It's like a modern Cosworth F1 V8 beast.

Has been done in an E36:

I'm sure it could be done in an E30, but it's a lot of work for a similar engine, and would kill the value of an actual M3.

Wow I had no idea that was a popular swap. Just googled it and there are some nicely modded 2002s out there with S2000 (F20C) engines, etc.

Yes, it is basically a Commodore, so we know the platform etc. can take it...I just prefer the Omega's styling. I'm sure the cooling can be sorted (remembering "money no object"). smile

Its a lot more stealthy . the Holden is a bit more attention grabbing. Just clicked in my head that they also fitted the commodore with a Nissan rb engine so the skyline gtr engine might slide into an omega . would confuse a few when the old Vauxhall is making crazy blow off valve noises!

One wonders why, though it's hardly surprising given your borderline obsession with Rover V8s.

Simple - weight, history and character. An original RRC is now worth considerably more than any swapped example.

If you want to spend alot to have little h/p by all means build a 5 litre rover v8. I bet a RRC Overfinch is worth good coin.

The last thing a RRC needs is a lot of power. Torque is welcome, up to a point, but they are neither the heaviest nor strongest of 4x4s, so you don't need a huge amount. 300bhp/300ftlb is easily achievable with a 5-litre Rover if you really want loads of power, but I'd be perfectly happy with a 3.9 to burble around in.
