Anyone else thinking a roll cage/hoop might be wise.....

I know its got a stupidly low COG but if you're taking into the back and beyond (disused quarry) then a roll is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Oh no. Argument with the wife coming up..!!

That ^^^ technicality aside, can anyone confirm a) that I'd need a braked trailer to pick it up, and b) what the combined weight of it would be?

My Legacy can tow legally up to 1800Kg and the Merc ML probably up to 3500Kg (although I'd need to check that).

All wonderful stuff.

Always remember though never go on Ebay when you've just got home from the pub.

Not sure of the exact weight, but they aren't as heavy as you think.
We drove ours back from inverness on an unbreaked trailer towed by a disco.

Just done some digging and the weight of a "Snow Master" which is the wide track version of the "Snow Track" is 1500kg.
So I would assume the normal snow trak is less.

Here goes then... if I'm not on-line for a while it's because of one or more of the following:

a) I'm dead
b) my wife's dead and I'm busy digging a hole in the garden
c) I've been arrested (look for me in the newspapers)

I've just been told in no uncertain terms I'm not allowed it. frown

Apparently 11 cars and 3 boats is already too many. Tch, women.

Ok...err...

Its cheap to run.
It has a VW beetle 1600 engine in it, so parts are cheap.
You have access to someone who has got one and so has gone through the pain of sourcing the tyres etc.
Also we've taken it apart and put it back together more or less so we could help with and work you have to do on it.

Just don't mention the magic pixie boxes.

It is worth mentioning that it's 6'2" wide. Which is a bit of a bh as our trailer was 6 foot wide and we had to put lots of fence posts on the trailer to lift it above the wheel arches.

Well my Uncle had a collection of 27 cars (no boats though unless a Granada counts smile)
not sure if that was before, during or after his divorce though!

With "only" 11 tell her you have only a small collection compared to some & there is room for one more, just leave out the detail biggrin

I'm not winning. I think, if it were the winter of 2010, I'd be in with a good chance. Having said that, we both have 4WD vehicles on winter/AT tyres already so maybe not.

Apparently:

  1. We don't have room (we don't but I would bloody make room)
  2. We don't have any reason for one (and when has that ever stopped me?)
  3. £6K isn't pocket money (no but I'm still driving my 7yo car while she tools around in a car half that age and about 4 times the price)
  4. We've just bought a house (OK, loose change is a little tight at the mo)
  5. She hates the cold, so no excuses to trailer it to Norway (although I might have used it for part of next year's trip to the Northern lights on my boy's week away)
  6. You're not spending our money on that
If I had proposed another TVR, I'd have been in with a shout. Odd isn't it?

I haven't given up but I do hope someone else buys it before we come to blows.

If you've resigned yourself to not buying it, perhaps you should suggest getting another TVR instead and she'll think she's won and say its a great idea.
