Gents,

Went out looking at somber, restrained FFRR Autobiographies in the £50k range. One or two nice cars out there.

Mrs D-T-D then fell absolutely in love with DKR over DKR 3.0 diesel Cayenne.

http://www.saxton4x4.co.uk/used/4x4/porsche/cayenn...

It is really a bit, umm, sudden.

But that aside, knowing nothing about these, does it have all the right bits (donkey excepted).

Thoughts?

David

A guy at work bought a brand new RR Sport with a 2 litre engine. What is the world coming to?

During my recent trip to the fair island of Mallorca - stunning if very congested roads - I spotted a fair number of Renault 4s. Was gobsmaked at how good the design looks compared to the generic Euroblobs we tend to see these days...

I spotted a 650i manual a few days ago but the seller seemed to think it was worth 12 grand - I didn't. Let me have a quick look for it...

That 550i was stolen/recovered in 2009 and then Cat D in 2014.

Sounds super.

Gents, tyre time again. Lots of recent additions to the market and a few older stalwarts. Not a believer in scrimping on tyres but looking at some significant price variations now.

Short list includes

Dunlop Sport Maxx £75
Bridgestone Potenza RE050 £75
Michelin PS4 £90
Good Year Eagle F1 Assymetric 3 £75
Continental Sport Contact 5 £85

Any thoughts? Any must avoids?

I've really gone off the RE050s. Find them really noisy.

ContiSport5s I do like.

My recent experience is limited to Bridgestone run-flats (hate), Pirelli P-Zero (average) and Michelin PS3s (like).

50 or 60 quid a set isn't a lot over 15-20k miles I supposebut I don't want to throw money at it for the sake of it.

I have PS3 on the back of my 996 (but not on the front) and no matter what I do I cant get the back out of shape whatever the weather.

PS3 - like

I had Pirelli P-Zero on my 981 and think they're poo.

Pirelli P-Zero - dislike

Soon fitting some Goodyear eagles to the 981 so will report back in a few days.

I'm running Advan 105's on the fleet currently and very pleased with them.
Also keen to try the new Kuhmo PS91 which look good. Sadly, I'll be waiting about 10 years given I did 800 miles in the donkey last year apparently...

The Yokohama 105 is about the same price as the Michelin as far as I can see. I'm not adverse to trying a set. No mention of the Dunplop. Are they poo?

There are different versions of the Dunlop sport maxx. I think rt is one and then tt and / or gt.
