I get this a lot. The law was called but I got fed up of waiting, I couldn't get through and had to reverse my 56ft tractor and trailer back to a T junction and take a de-tour. No, my vehicle is not over width.

Why not just sit there with your hand on the horn till someone comes out.

smile
I did and had the engine at high idle, no one came. An off duty copper called her mates, but I'd all ready been there 20 minutes and got guided back to the next junction.
This seriously yanks my chain. Due to the fact I love quite close to the station in Cambridge, lots of commuters treat the street as a free car park and think so long as other cars can squeeze through, they've somehow done an acceptable job of car parking. They seem to lack the mental capacity that things like bin lorries and delivery trucks regularly need to get through or that god forbid one day an ambulance or fire engine might need to get through.

All that jazz

Anybody else would've just driven down the grass on the left. Problem over.

Have you ever driven a tractor/trailer?

Coleridge Road, Cambridge last night. Another championship-quality bellend who thinks as long as they're not inconveniencing other motor vehicles, it's all OK.

The street I live on today. Some complete, gold-plated, world class retard who I suspect has parked up and walked over the nearby footbridge to the station to catch a train for a nice day out in London. Although I thought they flogged the gag to death, that Top Gear segment about the cliched Peugeot driver was so true.

A Police matter, surely? But who was there first?

(Not that it matters? As I understand it, they are both liable for the offence of obstruction).

Yep, one of the neighbours called the Police. She has also started a petition to the Council, as this is now happening regularly - she has a photo of the binmen trying to lift a hatchback out of the way last week, and an ambulance that had to turn around and go round the block to pick up a patient. Next plan is on a Sunday night we all move our cars off the driveways and park them on the street, so that come Monday morning when the commuters pitch up there's no space.

We looked at that and there wasn't enough room, it's a long trailer

This is an approach to a T-junction (road off to the left on blind bend).

"I'm just dropping someone off before trying to park on/near this junction. I'll only be a minute . . . "

Do keep us updated! With pictures!

It is in the commuters' own interest, though, for all to park on the same side of the road. More cars can be fitted in that way.

Is that Greville Road?

I used to live near there around 2007 before moving out of the area and even then the parking was a complete joke. I ended up selling my vehicle as I just got pissed off by the situation and the whole anti-car mantra that seems to pervade Cambridge.frown

Why the council haven't put in controlled zones along the Rustat Rd locality of the footbridge is beyond me. Surely a nice little money spinner for the car hating council?confused

Still, at least there's lots of shiny new things for the tourists to look at in the city centrerolleyes

I said our bus stops do not have any parking restrictions, ie yellow lines. Either way it doesn't deviate from what the Highway Code says, don't park by a bus stop, no?

Down my road.

smile
As I said, it's only a bus stop if it's painted on the road
Thank god your not my local bus driver then. One further down the road.

I am one of your local bus drivers... smile

A lot of Aberdeen/shire has a lot of silly positions for bus stops.
The one on Queens Road at Royfold Crescent heading towards Woodend is situated just a few yards from the traffic lights. The amount of times I've been slowing for the lights, without indicating and cars will come up the side of me and go through the red light.

There's a thread running at the moment about how inconsiderate and unlawful the residents of a similar situation were for having white lines and marked bays put in their road, near a mainline station.

I think pictures like the above, serve to remind us why.

Your not wrong there. In Portlethen one is opposite a junction, another so close to a keep left bollard, drivers usually drive on the wrong side to pass the bus, which not only just past the bollards, also just before a junction. Keep,up the good work, I will always let a bus out if I can, if cars behind me want to toot, so be it, righty ho back to the thread.
