That's why I asked - looking at getting either an E36 or an E46 cab, but prefer the look of the E36 - just.
Any other must-have bits of kit?
I too personally prefer the look of the E36 in Cab form since the E46 cab is still partly in the hands of the chaverie, at least at the lower end of the market. E36 has just about migrated into "enthusiast" territory since the over-barried ones are rapidly dying Any other must-have bits of kit?
Definitely heated seats.
I'd also strongly recommend a wind deflector. £100 off eBay for a genuine one, massively reduces wind chill/noise in the cabin. I can quite happily have mine (ahem) over 80 on the motorway and have a reasonable Bluetooth conversation with the roof down.
Other than that, I'd really like the Harmon Kardon sound upgrade but many say it's no great shakes.
There was never any traction control on the E36 apart from a few random US examples.
Main things are service history and enthusiast ownership in the past. Mine was well maintained, to a point, but I've spent a LOT of money bringing it up to Pukka.

I shortlisted an E36 M3 (cabrio) as a treat for next year. I suspect finding a decent (unmolested) one is going to be tricky.
True words. There are so many on the classifieds that look shiny- They ALL look shiny, but some of them are proper horrors underneath.Lots of the ones in the classifieds are also still there since I was looking over a year ago, the notable one being a bright yellow one which looks nice but has lots of capitals about DREAMERS!!""!"!! on the ad, so is clearly both overpriced and a nail (Not the 13k one )

Which old 1983 Cherry will do 0-60 in 6.3?
They did do a Cherry Turbo but according to this, it did it in 8.2. I dare say aftermarket kit might improve it but it's still only a 1.5.http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/...
I do miss my 3.0 coupe in Diamondschwarz, it was a very quick and capable car. That I6 noise was seriously addictive, and because it was a throttle cable and not some stupid DBW nonsense the response was excellent with those ITBs.
Not a cheap car to run by any means, but I think they've gone beyond the chav stage and are becoming cool again, with all the knobends buying up E46 M3s.
Mine was a good one, but any I would buy again (and I have seriously considered it) I would only get with a war chest to replace suspension components. The engines and manual gearboxes seem pretty solid, but suspension and vac-hoses seemed to be fairly repetitive in my car's history file.

.
WTF is this CHAV stage - I have never seen a chav in a genuine M3 of any shape. .
BMW's really do have a chav stage, all of them, including the m-cars - also chav doesn't equal poor.
