Roof spoiler from 1996.

Cant argue with the performance but I couldn't ever be seen getting out of it.
I agree - its ugly. You can get the RS6 for about 800 quid per month lease if you must have an estate or the S8 for 420 + vat. That S8 deal makes everything else look very expensive.

196mph in a subtle estate is fully insane, but it still somehow doesn't do much for me.

Just mesmerising and surely only to rise ever further from my grasp as time marches on.
Nice colour flip paint as well - Alfa Romeo really nailed that back then

For some reason this weekend I mostly decided that I need a 50 year old sports car to smoke around in.

I can't get the C&C website where I am - anyone fancy C/P-ing the details?

Looks remarkably similar to my father's '72 280SE - I had no idea they were going for that sort of money!! I'll have to pull it out of the garage next time I'm home and get some photos...

Say, perhaps, one was to go and take a shoofty at this. Would one be satisfied that the original chocolate tensioners had been fully sorted by recall 15 years ago, or would one be seeking to heavily negotiate based on the fact that the ones fitted 15 years ago will merely be just be a slightly better quality of tempered, higher cocoa solid percentage of chocolate?

Just out of interest like.

They're 18" BBS E88 motorsport wheels as seen on various Cup and RSR Porsches going back a couple of decades now. Fantastic, but eyewateringly expensive.

That looks great Loon. Good to see one which hasn't got 18" chrome wheels or other such modern "details".
cool

Can you work out what the badge says on the back of it?

My lovely Mercedes 280s is now sadly for sale, it is LHD and originates from Belgium. It is a one family owned car from new, totally original and untouched. The condition is amazing, the original paintwork still has a deep shine. There are some stone chips and scratches consistent with the age of the car.

The bodywork is straight, the o/s front wing has some slight bubbling above the headlight, I have not repaired this as it does not bother me and I didn't want to spoil the originality of the car. It really has to be seen to be appreciated.

The Chassis is just as good and as clean as the bodywork, there is no rust anywhere, the car has been garaged all its life. The Chrome work is all exceptionally good and original.

The Interior is like new, the seats are Burgundy Red in colour and are made from the hardwearing Vinyl which looks like real leather. The carpets are like new as are the door cards and wood trim. The headliner is unmarked.

The engine runs sweetly, very quiet, the oil pressure and temperature are both as they should be. The car has been extremely well maintained throughout its life. It has done a genuine 61k miles. The brakes are all good, I have put a new caliper on the N/S and changed the pads, it has also had two new front tyres. The car has 12 months MOT.

The car is UK Registered in my name, and is ready to drive anywhere. I have the original Tool Kit, unopened and unused. The Original Sales Invoice and covering letter as well as all the manuals and handbooks which came with the car originally.

If you are looking for a Genuine Original Mercedes then look no further, you will be hard pushed to find a better example. It took me many years to find this car, I am only selling because I now have two classic mercedes and one must go due to space restrictions, they are big cars.

This car has been featured in this months Classic Mercedes Magazine Autumn 2015 Issue 13, It Takes Two.

I welcome any independent inspection, I will also help any overseas buyers. I can gain access to a ramp if anyone wishes to look underneath the car in detail. I can take photos of any areas, please NO timewasters or photo hunters.

The car is priced to sell, this really is a special car and one that cannot be found easily.

The car is available to view in my hometown of Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Thanks. smile my dad's is a 2 owner 280SE with a genuine 78k miles, used for high days and posh events, I think he thinks it's worth about 5k on a good day... I shall show him this thread.

I think somewhere in between the two figures is right, £14k is very strong money for one of them
