I've driven loads of cars with that 130 PD engine.

It's entirely unremarkable. I even passed my driving test in a Skoda Fabia with that engine.
Presumably a VRS? No other variant had the 130 engine

Exactly. Not a bad car or engine, but nothing remarkable.

2.0 16v (XU10J4RS ) in Xsara VTS or 306 GTi-6.

With a K&N induction, sublime sound. Great car too, I run one as a shed for the commute and love it.

Superb cars and not bad sounding! 306 Rallye is one of my hero cars from that era. I had a 306DTurboS and did 140,000 miles in it with little problem and loved it at the time.

You should hear the K&N on my Impreza with a large turbo and front mount inter-cooler hehe I've never been a fan of induction kits but was forced to adopt one when I needed a front mount inter-cooler (the piping means the standard airbox has to go) but I've since found I love being able to hear the turbo!

Here's my twopenneth worth - K8 V6 in my old Mazda MX3, a smooth and characterful engine that would pull from 1000rpm in any gear, but still rev to 7000.
styling.
Agreed I had a 2.0 V6 narrow angle V6 in my Mazda 323F 1998 model (no idea what engine code it was but it was a an absolute gem of an engine, responsive, high revving, sweet sounding and was not bad on fuel).

Genuinely love how st my PD130 sounds. Proper diesel, before the EU got involved.
Compared to the previous generation- 80s and 90s Peugeot diesels , not to mention Ford's ghastly effort and Vauxhell's even worse one - the PD130 sounds like a creamy V12 .

I would extend the above to pretty much any petrol N/A I6 from BMW, particularly earlier ones without electronic throttles.

I also echo other posters with the Buick/Rover V8. Doesn't have to be in a TVR, a Landrover or range rover with the 3.5ltr is great fun.

Or indeed the MGB GT V8. Sometimes crop up transplanted into standard B Roadsters. Although, a properly fettled B-Series 1.8 with twin webbers and a nice exhaust is a lovely thing to hear - not much go, but plenty of smiles!

Primera GT engine is worth a mention: Primera 2.0 petrol, SR2.0de think it was named, all alloy superb engine that just loved to rev and the light weight really made a difference to the handling of the Primera (which had multi link suspension and was terrific to drive for a dull cheap saloon). Even the normal 2.0 petrol 130 bhp Primera was fun to drive and loved to rev.

...also evolved incredibly into the version found in the Pulsar GTi-R... which had a fk-off big turbo and individual throttle bodies. Impressive!
