@Busa_Bloodbike yep I am up for that I am around in December. Lets do it.
And just in case he needs that donation link, it's here. mel said:
The bike will however be at next weeks Sunday Service along with a couple of its "friends" I don't know yet if we'll actually be fundraising as permission is in the hands of MB.
Don't forget to mail me names Mel. Thanks mate.Glad this is going well, we've been discussing it for long enough, eh?
What a fantastic cause, tinged by such a sad story. How good that something he loved so much can do something that important for other people.
It is also nice to hear about a charity that doesn't seem to be run by a load of corrupt fatcats with an abundant amount of fingers in the pie. This is one charity worth donating to!

If you should wonder what the Ali B does now and to supplement the article above, I thought I'd let you guys know about my run out today.
I am privileged to run the Husqvarna Nuda 900 - not your best bloodbike but it does have its place for getting through traffic etc. Today was it's opportunity to prove itself!
I was not on rota today and was getting ready to leave the house to go to a big family lunch on the South Coast, when today's controller rang and said there was a very urgent need for platelets. I started explaining the lunch and then realised I just had to go - Sharon would have to drive herself and I'd see her later!
On with the leathers/waterproofs/helmet etc., and I'm heading in to London via the M25. I'm not going to describe the journey - it was mixed roads with lots of traffic. I get to Tooting, strap on the box and head off for Canterbury. When the traffic gets busy, I start flashing my main beam, asking people to pull over and let me pass. To the man in the Blue Astra that reluctantly pulled over and saw my passing with a "shake of the fist", I apologise for my hassling and thank you for letting me past. I'm hoping the blood signs on my jacket and box explained my need to pass and I'd like to think I was forgiven...
So... in to Canterbury and a dash with the box to the Path lab, to be greeted by a very grateful man who thanked me, took the box and rushed off in to the lab...
Back out to the bike and I make time to talk to a nice old man in a wheelchair, having a cigarette and watching the world pass him by. Just a short chat but long enough to find he had complications during his surgery and needed blood - lots of it. I will never know who the recipient of my delivery was and I don't want to know. Chatting to this nice old man was enough to make me realise that WE had made a difference today. SERV is a team and we all play our part and with your help, we will continue to make a difference.
Thank you!

could someone please explain in simple terms how i can put this article on my facebook page please.
I'm not a Facebookist, but the URL for the article is: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...Just as important, the URL for the donation page is: http://www.justgiving.com/Mel-Johnson1
Enough of the bikes already.
Some of Ali B's little (four wheeled) helpers at the infamous Summer Ball.
And just for good measure, that all important link for donations.

How large an area does each rider generally cover? I've looked through the bloodbiker website many a time and keep meaning to get in contact for more details. I see that you work on a relay system to get the blood from one place to another, what sort of distances are covered? Do you have riders specifically for the inter hospital runs between Canterbury, Ashford and Margate? How big are the blood boxes? I'm struggling to thing how I could mount one on a R1, but as there is already a 'busa and I'm sure other sportsbikes, there must be a way!
