Straight 6 for Vol 6.

There is this one which needs a headgasket, or more to make good again

There is this one which is advertised by Brooklands Historics to be auctioned at the end of the month

That first one has "presence", the 2nd one has "class". I'd buy either.
The wheels on the first one are also worth 600-800. Deserves to be more than a donor car though. Although given how much work it needs (HG and a lot of welding) my money would be on it ending up as a breaker. Shame.

What would a couple of decent seats out of a ruined car rush you? £500? Loom and HG done it's a steal.

An early w124 is the ideal starter barge - cheap to insure, nice enough to drive, and pretty simple and cheap to fix.

Still fancy a W123, classic "Beirut Taxi".

I really think w123s are over-rated. They're very agricultural and the interior is st. There is a simplicity about the engineering and undoubtedly the bits that move are high quality. The ride is smooth. But the interior is fairly cobbled together, the shapes lacking any unity of theme (in the 124, the console and dash are as one and the horizontal theme is very relaxing), the switches wanting for tactility and sprayed all over the joint. The door furniture is plasticky. The engines are not very smooth. The transmissions are lumpy. And they're all completely worn out. They do have character in spades, however.

Rear seat been out prior to that pic being taken I wonder - it doesn't look like it's been clipped back in properly (I seem to remember the battery is stored under it). Nice looking E34 all the same.

Yes the battery is there (to help with the 50/50 weight distribution I guess), the advert says

and a new battery.
Which would explain it.

Just needs the two clips at the front of the rear seat base lining up properly and a firm shove and it'll be right!

Good W123 estates can be nice though. Very rare now, but they ooze class.

My personal recommendation a 540i Touring

Bit pricey, but the prospect of 34mpg equivalent.

First one is a breaker so over priced IMO; second one looks OK. Was strangely tempted by the white one in the third link of earlier post, but interior is the wrong colour. Thought it would go nicely with my white SEL. The fourth one was another overpriced breaker.

The 500 quid one's overpriced? Surely if these wheels are genuine they are both that easily?

It's only a starting bid.

Needs transport to collect ... Shot motor, headlining and rot ... How much do you want a set of those wheels?
