Delorean Barn Find!
Discussion
Great find. So, how do you start finding the owner to buy it?
If no reg plates, how do you get the serial number etc? Presumably it's not "finders keepers" and you'll need permission? Are the VINs visible on these?
Could your mate find out who owns the land possibly from a council and go from there?
Really want this to be a great success story of cross continent restoration goodness!

So car appeared there somewhere between 2006 and 2011
Well it was there in 2009 - with the remnants of a cover:DeLorean for free by marushiyo, on Flickr

great find!I can't imagine there are many Deloreans in Japan, so tracking down it's owner can't be too hard if you'd be so inclined.
Can you post the GPS co-ordinates? I'm not too far away from Chiba, so could take a look. It looks like it's in the middle of an urban area though oddly. Maybe somebody nearby owns it, but doesn't have the space on their own land (which is not uncommon in Japan).
All cars in Japan are required to be registered to a parking space too, I'm guessing this one isn't, which will make it a little harder to dig information on.

Their can't be any other abandoned deloreans in the world, surely?
Well, there are a few....This one's in Dubai, with what looks like an early 80's Quattroporte in the background
California (and with a tow bar)
Japan again, and what looks like a 911 RS according to the photographer
Louisianna
I pulled the pic of the red one off someones flikr account. According to a comment, it was abandoned when the owner failed to pay the garage for the re-spray!
Having brought 5 DeLoreans back from the dead, the killer is how far gone the chassis is - but I bought a replacement for my last one. If the interior is complete, it can be fixed. The engine can be rebuilt with donor parts pretty simply and as everyone has pointed out, the panels and fibreglass tub will live pretty much forever.
The DeLorean does not go as fast as it looks but is a very comfortable, capable sports GT whose looks have aged far more gracefully than any of its contemporaries, not least the Esprit on which the DeLorean is loosely based and whose build quality is dreadful by comparison.
Edit: The combination of gas-flap bonnet and silver wheels puts the build date approx June-August 81 with vin' between 1900-4000

Awesome thanks.I see in Google earth, the OP said it wasn't there in 2006... it was, but the positioning is 1 'plot' out, so if you look to the left it's still there... and in 2004 too I think...
I'm not sure about the 2003 image, the grey-ish blur could well still be the car - so it's been there for a good 10 years!
