When do we get to the bit where you nearly killed a kid on a moped?
The after the event reflection bit

It's a good job I stayed in the car and drove away, if not I would have killed the SoB.

You can feel safe and happy in the knowledge that will will eventually be killed on the road.

Not mentioning any incriminating details, I was a passenger of a car, of which a couple of moped fools were trying to harass. The driver drove according to the speed limit and the moped was right on the back bumper.
Suddenly, an animal ran out in front of the car! This caused an emergency stop, which due to the fact that the moped rider was so close, he did not see this animal and ended up shunting the back of the car.

The moped was a wreck, the young tt had to explain to his dad why he has liable for a new bumper on said car, and why his moped was fked.

The little pleb tried to drive his buggered chicken chaser off, until he was swiftly obstructed and reminded that fleeing the scene of an accident is frowned upon in the eyes of the law.

Hello all,

Just venting my annoyance a little after an incident earlier this evening.

Making my way back from Sainsburys having bought some nice things for dinner, driving through my town i noticed a couple of kids on mopeds dicking about behind me (beeping at pedestrians, weaving about). Further along the same road, the car in front of me pulled up at the side of the road so I stopped and sat behind waiting for a gap to go around it. As a (lengthy) gap appeared I pulled out, but at the same time the plank on the moped behind me decided he wanted to overtake both me and the parked car! I have to say he must've been about a gnats cock away from hitting me but I guess he changed his mind early enough to avoid any contact.

A little further along said road I turned right approaching my house, both moped riding Einsteins decide to give chase. I continued along at a normal pace (25ish, built up area), and presumably the one that nearly hit me pulls alongside my car shouting all kinds of profanities and then proceeds to punch the back of the car! At this point, with the OH in the car, I decided I just had to get away from these morons so I sped up a little and rather than head home (to show them where the car lives), decided to head for the main road (NSL) where I could lose them easily. Stupidly I forgot about the traffic light controlled junction on this NSL road and typically the lights were red! They both pulled alongside and proceeded to dismount their bikes, and one of them then tried my drivers door. The car locks itself when you start moving as most modern cars do, so he couldn't gain access, and in his rage he punched the wing mirror. Conveniently the lights went green so i hoofed it off, again with them chasing behind me, but was able to outrun them (all within the speed limit honestly guv!).

Sorry for the long story, but I just can't get over these kids behaviour. In a way I feel like a right wimp for running away but faced with two lads in full bike gear in a full blown rage, my OH in the car, and my 5 day old (company) car at risk of damage I didn't think hanging around was the best idea.

Question is now, should I call the police? Frustratingly I didn't get a reg number of either bike so I'm not sure there's any point. However I must admit I'm a little concerned they'll notice my car if they were to ride past and vandalise it somehow.

I just hate these little cock-ends riding around with L plates on, nearly getting themselves killed and thinking it's OK to chase people around trying to vandalise their car. Nobody should be allowed to be in control of a vehicle without proper tests, this is a clear instance of where the CBT just isn't good enough and allows kids like these with this pathetic attitude to ride around doing things like this and putting themselves in danger.

Anyway rant over, thanks for listening.

Mike.
These little nobodies are in every town. They have no future and their present is far worse than you could ever make it by giving them a battering.

I would never waste my time with these creatures. They have nothing, their life is worthless, they have no future. Why on earth someone would want to get out of a car and link their lives to these people is pointless.

You have a car, job, home, OH. All things they will never have.

Worth reporting though. Police will know who they are, always do and every little helps.

I try and be kind to bikers where I can, I certainly wouldn't hinder one, but sitting on my rear wing in my blindspot is helping no-one. You're right, you are vulnerable, why would you try to make it worse for yourself?

In my experience with little scrotes on mopeds, the OP could have indicated, checked no-one was coming past, moved off in the safest manner known to mankind, with plenty of notice, and said invincible moped scrote would still have carved up the outside and tried to make a fight of it.

Whilst the 'right' thing possibly would have been to give them a damn good shoeing, In the situation you did the right thing by removing yourself from the situation. I had something similar where the guy actually ended up chasing me a junction up a motorway, getting out the car when I was stopped at traffic lights and trying to get me out of mine, even though there was one of him and two of us. I chose to close the window (he was shouting through it and I hazard a guess would have tried more) and then slowly and deliberately drove off when the lights changed. It's just not worth it.

since you should not be looking in your mirrors as you move off
Really? Why not? I always keep an eye on my mirrors when pulling away...
Then you will just hit whatever moves into your path in front of you.

I appreciate what you mean, you can swap in between or use peripheral vision to pick up movement, but you cannot focus your eyes independently. At the point you begin to move forward you should be looking in the direction you are going, even if you then check your mirrors again that fraction of a second can be enough for someone behind to move.

Can people stop this new craze of saying 'just saying' please. It's very sad.

But the things which move into your path don't come from no-where. If you only look ahead, you won't see them until it's too late. If you know someone is behind you, especially if you've already clocked that they're acting like a knob, why wouldn't you keep an eye on them?

I do agree - I wouldn't have tolerated some kids hitting my car.
Till one of them does you with a screwdriver that is. 16 year old lads can be 6ft, 15 stone just the same as any adult. It's not like having a word with some ten year olds.

If they were that big and with helmets on, what would lead him to believe they were 16?

Put it this was if an adult did it i would get out my car, if 2 adults did it and I thought i would get a pasting they would be bonnet mascots.

I was carrying my trolley jack in the car recently and I seem to have inadvertently left the bar under the passenger seat. Just saying.

Kids on mopeds.

So sixteen years old then.

And you ran away rather than stop the car and give them a good kick in the balls?

You soft ste!

I do agree - I wouldn't have tolerated some kids hitting my car.
A few years ago in my early 20's I was at the front of a set of lights, it was quiet summer evening. A lad on a moped made his way to the front but kicked my door (god knows why) I put the window down and shouted some nasty words of wisdom.

He produced a crow bar from his jacket, hopped off his bike and started walking over. I jumped the red light(it was a T junction so I could see it was safe) and sped off down the NSL road.

Soft ste, check. Still got my teeth, check.
But in the other 10,000s of incidences they didn't - if you live your life in a state of constant fear and on a sample of 1, unable to read a given situation in it's individual way...well then please continue to hide in your house!
I think you've read into my point a bit too much and made assumptions.

I don't live my life in fear, far from it, but I learnt from that experience as you said to read each situation in its own individual way and that 9/10 times its simply not worth the hassle getting wound up about something as insignificant as some moron kicking my car.

Karma will catch up with the little scrote down the line, I don't need to help speed up the process
