Depends on your perspective.

Hypothetically - If you lose control of your car (or bike) and wipe out my nearest and dearest; and I found out you have a habit of speeding...
Then there is nowhere on this planet that you and your family will be safe.
I would make it a mission to remove from this earth what you love the most.

Still have a heavy right foot?

Personally I don't think speeding is an issue when it comes to dual carriage ways and motorways, but in residential areas it can be. The only reason speeding is made such an issue is because it is easier to monitor and spot/enforce.

There are other things that are far more dangerous, such as lack of observation, poor lane disapline, drug driving, drink driving, tired driving etc, but to enforce these the same way speeding is demonised would mean a massive increase in man power as the money making machines cant detect it.

Speeding alone isnt dangerous, it only becomes dangerous when it involves one of the above.

One thing I have talking from experience is people who take drugs always have to justify it, it's just like smoking drinking yadda yadda yadda. I'd say speeding is no where near as bad as drug taking, and you can accidentally speed very easily. No one has every accidentally taken a line of coke now have they wink

I regard speeding in 30's and 40's unacceptable, and in my view, if you get caught driving too fast in these posted limits you're a cretin.

In a 50, and above, my speed, the same as many others I imagine, can be consistently ( sometimes significantly ) above the posted limit, depending on circumstances including weight of traffic, how well I know the area, how well sighted the road is, etc, etc. Whenever I'm in the car, but especially when I'm doing something that may be regarded as "questionable" by the lumpen proletariat, I'm mindful of how my actions may affect those around me, and try to act with a suitable amount of reserve.

Are the people defending drug taking really saying they enter into their recreational activities with the same level of concern for others, or how their behaviour differs from when not taking drugs? I've never bothered with them, just find the whole idea completely noxious, so it's a genuine question based on never having partaken.

Maybe it's an age thing, but I simply don't see speeding as a big deal in the right place, in maintained machinery.......I'd like to think I'm in the majority with this, given the forum I'm on!

2 weeks ago - I sold my baby.
196-200mph top speed. (I never got to the limit )
0-60 in 3.6 seconds.
0-100 in 7.6 seconds
Nurburgring time - with someone competent (not me)- 7:22

Enjoying the natural aspiration as the engineers intended was a hoot.
Finding places to do this was not easy.

Both are safe and should be acceptable when done responsibly.

Speeding at 60 in a 30 is stupid, doing 80 down an empty motorway at 3am isn't.

Injecting heroin and going out on the rob to buy more is stupid, sitting at home with a spliff playing Xbox isn't.

Wife spent it first.
Taxman second.
Family third.
The pets probably have staked a claim also
At the bottom of the chain is what's left.

A couple of Sanatogen, Strepsils and Seven Seas is most likely.

I think our elected representatives and the judiciary have already picked this one off for us, despite what the OP's work colleagues might perceive. Drug taking is a criminal activity, speeding (speeding, NOT dangerous/wreckless driving) isn't as far as I'm aware.
