Stupid OP is stupid.

How the hell were you going to fill in and send the V5 to the dvla with the new keepers details?

I thought school had gone back already??
No need to be so "angry"......

When I originally bought the car the lady asked me to post it and sign it myself, even though I was right there and it would have taken seconds.

When you're miles apart somebody has to fill their bit in and post it off, and either way it's a tiny bit of inconvenience so sometimes these things happen this way.

Because of the timings I would miss two days of work, and therefore two days pay and time off would not be easily granted.

Is it just me who thinks that the ( strangely not that bad in reality) car is not at the ferry port at all, but is merrily being driven around by a bloke who got a car for £100....

While still in the (incredibly naive) op's name.

I don't care how far away a car is, I always stand in front of it before considering buying it, pay for it there and then and always sign the V5 there and then. What about a receipt, proof of sale, proof of purchase etc.

You need to direct the car through your watch based communicator. The car will then drive itself to the terminal and onto the ferry. The keyword to activate this functionality on your watch and car is 'KITT'... You may need to shout this into your watch a few times before it works if you haven't used this functionality before.

I read the opening line of this thread with the usual dread of another "I sold it/buyer wants money back/what do I do?" tape loop (although these are quite good for forum bingo).

Instead I found myself having a damn good chuckle.

OP, today I bought something from someone on a forum, someone who I had never met or spoken to, or even had a forum discussion with. He dropped it off at my in-laws for me, and he was good enough to say that if for any reason they were not at home, he would leave it and I could bank transfer the money to him. However, this was £35, not £600 and I didn't have to pay for his fuel in advance before I received the item!

I like to cling on to the faint hope that there are still some decent people around, and I have both experienced the kindness of strangers, and given some trust and assistance back out myself to strangers, and mostly not been burnt. I'd like to think we can all still do that sometimes, but seriously, you do need to spend some time on the mainland, away from the islands, before you enter into any more business transactions!

Suggest a two week ice cream negotiation and purchasing course on the Isle of Wight followed by a 1 week, can you pass me some more bog roll seminar on the Isle of Dogs. No ferry required.

Well, I'll keep you all posted how it all pans out.

I've replied to the many folk that enquired about it earlier, and said it should be available again if they are still interested. Hopefully someone will bite.

I have certainly learnt a lesson and will take the great PH advice and common sense on board for next time :-))

Fingers crossed.

Good advice.

We all make mistakes and I have had some total disasters. In this case I do think the OP needs to reconsider his approach. Business requires caution. Financial transactions require considerable caution. Best of luck.

Use the street view functionality on Google maps to look for the car in the streets around the terminal...

Good advice. I can empathise with the OP as I was similarly too daft and trusting when I was scammed. When you live in certain kinds of communities you do feel insulated from the real world. I live in such a place, but every time I visit relatives in Chester I feel myself checking for my wallet when certain accents are heard!

That only works if the op has an Apple watch hehe
