Discussion
My Mum: You like cars, don’t you petal? Well Dave at work has just bought ever such a nice one.
Me: Oh right. Do you know what kind it is?
My Mum: He said it was a Mazda. An MX6 I think.
Me: Oh right. That’s not really my thing…
My Mum: It looks ever so sporty.
Me: Yeah, it’s not rea…
My Mum: And it’s red.
Me: That doesn’t really mean….
My Mum: And it’s got racing stickers.
Me: Alright Mum.
My Mum: He's agreed to take you for a ride in it.

Hardly, when you consider the Government's wonderful changes to the VED system means every car purchase requires the new owner to pay for tax straight away.
On the SOTW topic though I have to say I am struggling to find redeeming features on the MX6 and find myself looking thinking this Cougar V6 manual with LPG for £795 is a far better proposition

Hmm, the Ford "woman who seeks sexual relations with considerably younger men". Not really sure of that's better or worse than a Probe...On the SOTW topic though I have to say I am struggling to find redeeming features on the MX6 and find myself looking thinking this Cougar V6 manual with LPG for £795 is a far better proposition

Hell if it were my money (and this time last year I was searching for a winter shed) I found a VW Corrado VR6 for £750 which is by far my preferred choice over any Probes, Cougars, MX6s when it comes to larger engined small coupes!

The family hatch based Corrado is about half a metre shorter than the family saloon based Probe/Cougar/MX6/Calibra/etc.aka_kerrly said:

Better car in every possible way than the Mazda. Superb engine (not stupid farty exhaust) note too. Shame about the name and image as it really was a very good car and deserved a lot more success than it actually had. I'm pretty sure, however, that the Duratec V6 does not take kindly to LPG.On the SOTW topic though I have to say I am struggling to find redeeming features on the MX6 and find myself looking thinking this Cougar V6 manual with LPG for £795 is a far better proposition

I think that without the heinous stickers this SOTW thread would have been a different story. Its a not bad looking retro jap coupe, ok it has been saddled with an auto box which kind of ruins it a bit, but back in the day these were a mildly desirable car,
The Auto box adds 1.7 seconds to the 0-60 time, jesus, that is quite a difference,
9.9 vs 8.2 with a manual, 8.2 is sort of acceptable for the power/era, 9.9 is pretty dire for a 2.5 V6 with the attendant fuel consumption it brings.

I bet the owner rolled round in this thinking he was the man.

We had a J-reg 626 about 10 years ago which I became quite fond of. It was perfect for wafting about in.
But then, it was only £300 and after a year of doing nothing to it I sold it to the MOT tester for £200 after it had failed on brakes.
This SOTW, on the other hand, I'm struggling with. Must try harder Shed!

Not a lot of love for SOTW this week.
Does this match Mrs Shed's lack of love?
The time has come to raise the bar and increase the price limit to £2,000.
You do not have to push the boat out in the first week. Maybe introduce us to a shed priced at £1,100 at first and then see how it goes.
