I can't think of a car I have seen that I would rather own than this I struggle to see how it won't be anything other than perfect. All the power you will ever need, lightweight, good looks, manual, amazing chassis and a na engine for me the perfect sportscar fk the gt3

Doesn't everyone complain about the far too long gearing?

The increased power should help, but I wonder why Porsche does not shorten the gearing also?

This will no doubt get a lot of good reviews.

Interesting not doing the PDK gearbox
, presumably they want it slightly slower than the 991 acceleration times. However it may be a boon as the 6 speed manual is always described as peachy.

You can flabber my ghast - it's manual only. Brilliant, but very surprising given the direction they have chosen for the GT3 and PDK.

It looks lovely, but it's going to be around £80k in the really desirable PH spec - clubsport, carbon buckets, PCCB. Seems a lot of money for a Cayman to me, even if it is a lovely one.......

Doesn't mention weight anywhere, so guess they haven't saved any?

Still looks like (relatively!) good value, with the limited numbers and looking at the 991 GT3 it'll be 100k soon after they come out!

This is surely the best week in car news ever? New ferrari, new focus RS and a Porsche we've all been waiting for!

A modern car I actually want to own and is semi-attainable. Well done Porsche.

First Porsche I've see in 8 years which I've thought wow I would love to own that! £80+k though. Think I'd have to have a 430 Coupe over it for that money.

Oh christ yes...

Lightweight (relatively speaking), 380bhp, manual, n/a with lots of trick suspension bits. What's not to like. Apart from being ~£40k short...

1340kg, 375 bhp-similar figures to a 996GT3. Will we see 996 and 997 GT3 residuals affected by this? I am in the market for a hardcore Porsche and much as I love the 911, find it very difficult to justify current asking prices on the secondhand market.

I've had my Cayman S for nearly 6 years and had been toying with the idea of upgrading it to SVP's Cayman SV spec. Question, would you invest £12k in upgrading a £16k car.....which will then be probably worth less than an original, or would you save (very) hard for the real thing, the GT4 and hope it becomes a depreciation proof toy?

Looks great. I must be getting old as £65k seems like a lot for a Cayman.

I'll put £20 on this winning Evo COTY 2015 please.

I wonder if these wheels will be an option? Looked so right for the car in my opinion

Quite an achievement keeping weight to GTS levels considering it has a bigger engine, brakes, body stiffening etc. Perhaps the most Pistonheads car released this year to date. I have a bit of a love hate thing with Porsches, especially the current move to hyper speed tech which takes the sweet spot well past license losing territory. This thing not only looks amazing on paper, they have pulled it off for less than the price of a Carrera 2 - stunning Mr Andreas.

GT4 if you can I would have thought. It's bound to hold it's money assuming it's numbers are limited and nobody does hot Porsche's better than Porsche themselves no matter how good they are. That SVP does look interesting though, have you tried one?

In fairness, i believe the GT3 weighs a little more than a Carrera S. Given the GT4 is a lower cost car, i wouldn't expect any exotic materials, and it's not like they can ditch the rear seats!

If you want a lighter one, then you need buckets and PCCBs, which will be another £10k.

I think this looks fantastic and am very tempted despite already having a GT3. As someone has said though, with the 'right' options, you are still looking at c£80k.

no pdk-s means that this car cannot avoid the ''almost" label of the Cayman R.

it's been nobbled for no apparent reason, again. are they really going to race in gt4 with a manual box?

frustrated at the situation of Porsche treating the Cayman like a second class car. damnit.

It's because we're getting old. You can probably spend £40k speccing up a new Golf.
