Shocking Scratches New M4 with individual Ferrari Red
Discussion
The dealer should deliver the car to an acceptable standard, based upon what is reasonable.
This includes with all the carbon parts fitted accurately.
In relation to the paint, I do think that this is an example of someone who is clearly very exacting (beyond what is to be expected from the norm - i.e. anal) re paintwork. One cannot expect BMW to deliver the car with a £2k detail, unless of course it's paid for as part of the deal.
My advice is this. Get the carbon rectified and detail it yourself.
Alternatively, just get the carbon sorted and then have word with yourself about how lucky you are, get out there and drive the living daylights out of it. Life's too short to get upset about this sort of thing, non?

I'm not questioning its ability as a great all-rounder, but if cars are apparently your passion I struggle to see an M4 as a 'passion' choice. Without even thinking about it I could split your £70k budget between an early Audi R8 (manual) for some proper 'passion' and a 63-plate 435d for rapid 'comunting' purposes.
I accept that it's 'each to their own' but I struggle to understand spending this amount on a car that really isn't much more 'special' than a 435d.
And who the f*** are you to question his decision? He posted to discuss swirl marks not his choice of car. I despair of this place sometimes.I accept that it's 'each to their own' but I struggle to understand spending this amount on a car that really isn't much more 'special' than a 435d.

Er, fk you very much, but it's an open forum and I'm just putting forward a view.
Why is the standard response to any criticism always 'you can't afford it' anyway? Laughable.
No one's asked for your view on the car you halfwit but of course you took the opportunity to demonstrate what a motoring connoisseur you are by suggesting what else OP could have purchased. You are the one who is laughable. Why is the standard response to any criticism always 'you can't afford it' anyway? Laughable.

errummmm. I was with you right up to the point where you call an audi a proper passion choice after berating the op for choosing a BMW I accept that it's 'each to their own' but I struggle to understand spending this amount on a car that really isn't much more 'special' than a 435d.
At least pick a gallardo as you can have the R8 engine but without the shopping trolley exterior!

I'm a user of a forum where cars and car choicesis pretty much the main purpose of being here. He can spend his money how he likes, but when someone says their only passion in life is cars I sort of expect something a little more interesting than a 4-series with a remap*
Says the person who drives a Kia as his daily driver.- yes, I am being facetious

everyone chill out..
the actual value of the car and paint is irrelevant this thread could of been about a "Dacia"
fact is its new and its got scratches
There's more to it than that...the actual value of the car and paint is irrelevant this thread could of been about a "Dacia"

They're not "scratches", they're "swirl marks" that can - apparently - only be sorted with the application of the thick end of two grand. It's not even a metallic, ffs.
(On a separate note, I wonder how much of that £3,500 goes to Fiat group for the use of their trademark in the colour name...?)

That baby must be immaculate !
OP, let BMW try to rectify. If it's still not at a reasonable standard of finish thereafter, drop the keys and walk.
Personally, I'm no expert on paint finish /detailing nor the most fussy on this front, but the paint on many new cars can be pretty horrendous whether due to poor process or damage in transit (expensive BMWs included, optional paint or not). Do you have a sense of whether the paint was poorly applied or if it was damaged in transit / prep?

OP, are you on the detailing world forum?
probably... used to be Swissol shop and allthingscarnuaba I personally would tell them you're not confident that they can resolve it and see if you can get money off a service or something instead and just detail it yourself, by the sounds of it you are more than capable.
Hope it works out for you whatever way you go.
