It is a cracking looking car and the only sad thing is that it should have been Lotus producing something that looks as good as this.
What's wrong with Ford doing it?Just buying a pen and giving it to someone other than Stevie Wonder would be a start for Lotus.

It's an odd choice for the US market where v6's are what you buy your teenage daughter to learn to drive in.
I think they are betting the farm that the halo effort of having a V6 Ecoboost in the GT will help sales of the V6 Ecoboost versions of the F150, Taurus and Exploder.leglessAlex said:

I've just seen a post on Instagram of a test mule, don't worry about the sound of it! It's amazing!
I just saw that video too, the grey car right? It does sound incredible, if there is any turbo noise it's being well and truly drowned out by the exhaust noise. If this thing would sound like an overwrought take on a saloon lump, we'd be disappointed.
The engineers at Ford probably tuned the sound in parallel with mapping the engine. At this price point, and considering the tremendous importance of the Ford GT as a halo for the corporate fleet, nothing less than the most fastidious will do.
ps: given this rise of the super-powered V6, we can guess what will happen in a few years to the Mustang GT
If you're interested in purchasing the Ford GT, there is an application process. Ford will decide who is allowed to buy.
See every question asked on the Ford GT buyer application, here.
Additionally, from the preceding link, there is this promising observation:
"Ford also seems to have an interest in people who actually drive their GTs, rather than simply hoarding them away in a private collection."

It gives price indication on the ford website, if you go to the application section...

The car was designed and built as a race car, predominantly to win Le Mans. The engine is from the Ford Daytona Prototype, its race proven and reliable and also fuel efficient hence its use at Le Mans. They've got 4 of them on the grid at Le Mans this year and they stand a fairly decent chance of GT Pro win. The road car is what allows them to put this on the grid, hence the twin turbo charged V6. That said, it should be a bloody good engine if perhaps lacking the character for an NA V8.
