I agree that much of it is jealousy; but people won't admit it.

Probably also won't admit they've never driven or even sat in one, making their point of view pretty redundant.

(And nope, i've not driven or owned one of these cars)

Sounds like the sweet spot of the range if you ask me, though I'd have to weigh it up against the 'standard' autobiography 5.0.

...just not in that colour.

Blimey, why so much negativity? .... I thought PH was for people who like cars, power and all things with pistons, tyres and engines.

Just to give an owners perspective and to balance things out a little bit ..... I've owned my 5.0 Range Rover for just over 3 years .... I can most definitely confirm that it has been an absolute pleasure to own and drive every day.

Does it 'need' 500bhp, of course it's not a necessity, but it's nice to have so much power on tap.

Having specced mine in black with the full red interior, whilst it might not be to everyone else's taste that doesn't worry me too much tbh, personally I still enjoy the colour combo three years on and would definitely choose a red interior again .... just because it's a nice environment to be in and personally I really like it, but if that is not to your liking then SVO can (and will) paint the car in ANY colour you like and trim it out however you like it. Anything is possible (at a price).

Is it excessive to pay this much for a Range Rover or any car for that matter?
Of course it is, when my old Austin Metro was equally capable Of physically getting me from A to B, but the Range Rover is such a luxurious place to sit and always feels a very safe way to travel and you jump out the other end feeling as fresh as when you got in.

Does it need things like an electric tow bar, no of course it doesn't, but it's nice to have it for loading the bikes onto for the occasional trip to centreparcs.
Does it need massage seats, again no, but it's not a bad place to be when sat in traffic on the M6.
Do I need a button on the key fob that heats and defrosts the car ... of course not, but it's pleasantly satisfying to be able to press that button, when it's cold outside and you'd otherwise be scraping the windscreen with cold hands.
Does it need a heated steering wheel, no, but having had one, I wish all cars had one.

Are there any minor niggles? Yes ... it's intolerably annoying how the reversing camera is positioned by the rear number plate and it gets so dirty so quickly and I also dislike that they've taken all the buttons away and almost everything's controlled by the touch screen, but these are first world problems when considering all the good things.

All I can say is that 'on the whole' my car has been a pleasure to own and I would even go so far as to describe it as "by far the best all-round car, I've ever owned".

And before anyone who 'has heard' the negatives of owning such a car, puts 1 and 1 together and gets 10 .... No, I don't work for Land Rovers PR department, but I do know the brand and their cars very well. I've had Sports and Range Rovers for the last 8-9 years, my wife has another EVOQUE coming (after trying all the other similar sized cars from other manufacturers she decided she wanted another EVOQUE), my dad loves his EVOQUE and my brother is enjoying his new RR Sport, all of which haven't had any problems to speak of.

The great thing about cars, clothes, watches, women (or blokes if that's your thing) is that there's so much choice nowadays and there's something out there for everyone.

If you like that old classic Range Rover, go and buy one of those.
If you think it's too expensive, buy something cheaper.
If you want a subtle colour, you go for it.
If you like wild and bling, wrap it in chrome and you go express yourself

But if like me, you like nice cars and want a good all-rounder, with plenty of space for the family and power on tap, a RR is a great car to own and I for one will be off to the dealer to order my new one soon. Do I need 550bhp and gnurled shiny bits, of course not ... but no doubt they'll be nice to have.

Keep up the good work Land Rover and no doubt your loyal customers will keep buying.
Do I have to spell out Evoke in all caps? No you don't.

Well, I just sold my 5.0L Supercharged Autobiography and am considering another one. My car has been superb save for a few niggles that have been solved by my dealer.
I am seriously considering the SVAutobiography Dynamic but will wait for the rumoured MY18 facelift.
I would take mine in BRG and my initial choice of interior was black and tan but I am having second thoughts, the tan when building your car online comes out darker than on the review pictures.
Problem is you have a limited choice when it comes to speccing your interior, it's either duo-tone or all black. I don't think duo-tone looks classy so default choice if you don't want a gaudy interior is black.

That is comical. Why do they still bother with 4x4 and a grab handle in Range Rovers?

That's better. I do like the red exterior (infinitely better than "accountant's grey") but the "pimento" interior is, erm, an acquired taste!

I do find all the plastic tat halos a little grating. All those buttons, each block surrounded by a bit of grey plastic just smacks of 80s Grundig house stereos. Personally, I just find the interior space that you look at as a driver just not very elegant.

Button count has been seriously reduced over the previous model (L322). And the metal you see is actually metal. Interior is very classy unless you go for red or duo-tone. I'm not too fond of all black interiors, a bit too German to my taste but I see no alternative than black as the other options are all duo-tone Kahn-like.
Weird that you have a limited choice of interior colours being an SVO model! It's either all-black, black and red, black and tan (but a kind of beigy tan that looks like vomit), black and cirrus which is a light grey and that's it!

My RRS is all black inside and looks fantastic and I think will continue to look good in years to come when some of the other colour combos will date very quickly!

Because you need them when you're deep in the mud at a shoot dear boy.

Despite what every two bob Clarkson on PH would have us alll believe many of them still do actually get muddy.

The button rims are all metal.

My old man had a V8 Classic new in the mid 90s, loved it.

This new one looks brilliant. Only niggle to me is how the additional grunt justifies the huge difference in cost. You could say the same for 911s, S Classes and so on, I know. If you can afford it, it's not really an issue.
They pitch the price point at what they think people will pay.

You're looking at an expensive car? You want the fastest, most powerful in the range? Then cough up.

Having driven a current model, German SUV recently that's supposedly the one you go for if you want a good steer, all I can say is, you are joking, right? It's still a big, heavy, high, lump of a car.

Ive got an issue with the price point.....130k is a lot for a range rover when you consider that the quality isnt the best.

I see it as an overpriced range rover rather than a bargain Bentayga.

Even for an SUV, that Bentley is a ridiculous car. I've seen a few around here and nothing about it looks right. At least the FFRR and D5 look good and even the RRS has pulled it out of the bag compared to the L320 it replaced. The Bentayga (what sort of idiotic name is that?) is just a cartoon car.

Notwithstanding the looks of the Bentayga, it is a formidable machine nonetheless and in a completely different league in quality, refinement and performance.

£130k is a lot for what is a boggo range rover with a bit of superficial tweaking. It is what it is and I bet it still has a flimsy feel like any other range rover.
