Looks like it might be a UK car judging by the yellow rear number plate (can't see if it's RHD) and UK style road signs. B 375 near Chertsey?

Looks like the section of road just after Chertsey Bridge towards Shepperton.

If she were driving it, it's more likely her own, no?

I think all of you people Veryon bashing need to leave PH now... if you don't even like this car a little then I can't see how you're petrol heads, and just for taking delight in someone crashing a car means I think you need to visit a morality workshop sharpish.

The thing has 8 Litres, 4 turbos and loads of power, regardless of weight, VW posing or anything else it's a great car.

*sigh* Some of the attitudes on this thread are pretty terrible to be honest.

Poor bloke, poor car.

Oh come on, it's a car which was invented by a suit then facilitated by engineers, but however great the job that the Engineers are you know every time you look at the thing that, had it been designed by a Bugatti engineer to be phenomenal from the outset it would have more character, more performance and infinitely more honesty.

It was designed by the Bugatti engineers of the time, I agree it's a shame Bugatti has gone the way it has, but are you really trying to say you'd rather it didn't exist, also as much as I like the EB110 I prefer the Veryon.

Whoever built it, whatever the badge, the Veryon is an amazing achievement, don't you agree?

I believe it was some "suit" that suggested we went to the moon before the end of the 60s, does that mean that was a bad idea?

I spotted the car outside the recovery yard yesterday afternoon and the recovery chap said the car was ditched near Shepperton after the guy lost it in the wet - If you'd have seen where they recovered it to, no wonder the recovery guy was a bit edgy about me taking photos of his £800k 'haul'!

If I had the money I possibly wouldn't buy one but that doesn't stop it being an amazing car all the same, it can do 250Mph eek. Has anyone driven one to confirm it's truck like qualities? EVO seemed to think it went round corners quite nicely.

Anyway, not nice to see one smashed up.

looking at the wreck, there's no safety-cell intrusion and minimum deformity so unless the occupant/s were not wearing seat-belts it's fairly safe to say they've walked away........ in which case I'll join the chorus of 'boo-hoo' as regards the crash but 'yee-hah' as regards the car it's happened to - nasty, ugly, cynical vehicle and- as has been touched upon earlier in the thread- an insult to the sports/racing car design philosophy of Ettore; he would turn in his grave bearing in mind his description of the Bentleys as the 'worlds fastest lorries' as the Veyron comfortably takes that accolade with aplomb. (And the colour scheme's sh*t)

I can't celebrate the death of a car like that, but on the bright side at least the rear end looks un-damaged. Anyone fancy trying to fit the engine in a Caterham or an Ultima? That would improve the power to weight ratio a tad....

A pity to see it bent, but it is only a car! Hope the driver is ok.

And equally as has been touched on earlier in the thread

I guess Ettore's sports/racing car design philosophy was placed on hold for the 3.2 tonne Royale? Perhaps while he was away on holiday his staff just banged a few out without telling him, eh?

I agree wholeheartedly. It's an incredible feat and one that will not be bettered in two or three decades time, if ever. Aside from making it more frugal at v-max and increasing the life span of consumables such as the tyres and clutch, this car could not be any better in terms of achieving what it set out to do.

As for it's relation to Ettore's philosophies and approach - so what if it's not how he did things. Enzo Ferrari once said that aerodynamics are for people that can't build engines and I don't see any flat fronted supercars coming out of Maranello these days.

Ettore was a man always at the forefront of engineering and although this may not be 100% what the great man would've come up with I doubt it's actually all that far off the mark.

I would like to know what people think should be changed to make it more Bugatti?

Bristol have been building ever more lairy versions of the Fighter, now with supercharged 8ltr V10 power. I think it could certainly have contenders within a couple of years never mind decades.

As impressive as the Fighter looks on paper I seriously doubt it will have the stability and handling capabilities of the Veyron, build quality etc. It's the overall package that makes it what it is.
