Holden Commodore SS cool

Looks like an Omega so the clients don't know what it is but with more grunt than a Lotus Carlton and less servicing costs..

  • 5.7 litre Chevrolet Gen3 V8 producing 400hp
  • Six-speed manual box.
  • All leather all the toys
  • As far as I know there's only one in this country

This is not the car in question but I know where there is a UK one if the money is right

Can you get an ZMCoupe for £10k yet? would probably fit all the requirements
I wish, the Z3 M breadvan is a collectors item. If you did find one at that price I'd dread to think of it's overall condition.

If you need something a bit more sporty looking rather than the estate, how about:

Good suggestions but a bit out of the parameters. Quattro is ancient and Vette is LHD.

Found this, looks cheap...

What the hell is that thing! I've never seen one of those before, kind of looks like an old porsche from the back. and a 200sx from the front, a renault!

The arse is falling out of Skyline prices at the moment, look how many are for sale on here! Im glad I got shot of my R32 GTR when I did. It seems too hard to sell them at the moment as there are just too many piss poor imports coming in.

Hmmm, that's a bit of a spread isn't it? 1800kg supersaloon to hot hatch?

I'd strongly suggest the E30 M3. I've owned one as well as a 968CS. The M3 is a better drive, although not as fast as the Porsche.

But the OP had better hurry, the 2.5l E30 M3 Sport Evo's are already out of your price range (£20k plus for a good example), and the best Evo ! & 2's are following them up. Find an exellent example, keep it well and it'll be better than money in the bank. And a lot more fun!

SS7
Its all over the shop I know! Im not after one type of car though, I just want something fun that isnt going to cost the earth.

Ive looked into E30's quite a lot. Its the only car that Ive wanted since I was about 8 years old when they came out! The amount of rot on them really does scare me though. If I were to go for one then I think it would have to be one where someone has already spent the money on getting the rot cut out and replaced. The downside is that a car that fits that bill isnt going to be under 10k! I will own one at somepoint though wink

Test-drive a DC2 Integra!

Although it's fwd, they get compared from time-to-time, largely for purity of purpose and handling reasons. And a good one really IS good...

Good ones seem to keep their money and still arent losing money like domestic market cars.

There is lots of trash around at the moment , as you say untouched imports and poor unloved examples with the wrong modifications.

Havoc, what are the prices on DC2's like stability wise?

liner33, (god I hate the term liner! its a car not a boat!) You say 'good ones' are keeping their prices, are they actually selling though. What would have sold for 15k last year is now struggling to get 11-12k, 10-12k R32's are now struggling to get 8-9k. Even tuned 34's are going for under 30k now what would have easily sold for low-mid 30's a year or so ago.

At the moment, good ones* are pretty strong.

Top-end of £9k for an immaculate 2000-model with <40k, aircon, and perfect history, typically £7,500-£8,500 for a VGC FSH below-average miler. In that ball-park they still sell quick. I paid £8,250 for a 44k black '99 w/aircon and alarm and a very good history. Poss a little over-the-odds but I wanted black.

Long-term...I've not a clue. A good one is unlikely to lose that much, seeing as the really high-milers are still fetching £5-6k.

As for modified ones...plenty around, some chavved, some more carefully altered. Depends what you're after - it's got a hard ride and a peaky engine as standard, no need to change wheels/suspension/etc. and induction/exhaust unlikely to yield big gains without a fair bit of money.

itr-dc2.com a good resource, but becoming more frequented by those into modding, as the price of the car drops, so the owner profile changes...

  • Low mile, FSH, unmodified. Whether it's white, red or black, or has aircon or not seems less important.

Being honest its the owner profile/image that puts me off. Thats why I got out of my Skyline asap.

A friend had a DC2 for a few years and he loved it though. Maybe I should try and get a drive in one to see.

I know what you mean...I'm on 'teg #2, and the owner profile has changed a lot since I bought #1 5 years ago. Not great, but it was the car I wanted, so I live with it...

Image hasn't really changed...it's never had much of an image in the public eye (already looks a bit 'riced' with the spoiler), and among those who know it's always been good.

What I will say is coming from a turbo'd car you'll find it feels really torqueless below the VTEC point...and in all honesty it can be frustrating at times because of that...you find yourself holding a gear lower than normal. But on a charge it's superb!
