So are Messrs Meaden and Bovingdon going to stay on at EVO as freelancers or have they parted company with the mag? If so, shame, I used to enjoy Meaden's writings Links?

This is all rubbish and has come from a very weak rumor which I really don't believe!!!
Can you imagine all of those egos together??? No I don't think so.
IF, IF it happened I think Bovingdon has an attitude and a large ego so wouldn't like him although he can write, a bit. Catchpole is good very good. Can see him being the most successful motoring journo of his generation....

sorry - I've spoken directly so one person involved - and something is certainly happening. I've been away for the last week or so, so not heard any more, but an internet based ezine type thing (not autojournals) involving harris / bov / meaden and another person who posts here and in other forums I frequent is apparrently go.Can you imagine all of those egos together??? As long as he doesn't lose his modest writing style.
I think Catchpole and Bovingdon is like new money against old if you see what I mean. So I reckon Mr Catchpole will keep his feet pretty firmly planted.
You see his long termer is a Caterham that he's been driving Mid winter with the roof off??! Nutter!! That is serious comitment that Bovingdon would never show

I don't know much, and it's just a few emails with someone supposedly involved. Just to be clear, I certainly do not speak with anyone at EVO*, and havn't spoken with any of the named contributors to this new venture. I have heard from another source who I would assume the source of the rumours on here as they match what I was told and have appeared in parallel.
I've not heard any more, so I guess we'll all have to sit back and wait.
To a large extent I hope that it's not true as I think EVO is a fantstic publication, and I've loved the writing in there from Meaden and Bovingdon. Spent part of the weekend sorting out my EVO back issues and ended up reading too many 2002/3 articles and didn't finish!
Life is life though, and sometimes people want to change what they do, I've changed jobs a whole bunch more times than most car journalists seem to do at EVO so it must be a fine place to work (after all which one of us wouldn't donate multiple bodily parts for that job!)
If there is a new online venture kicking off with the people that have been mentioned I'm sure it will be a fantastic thing, and equally given the strength in depth at EVO with Barker, Catchpole, Tomalin and Harry's entertaining articles on the Zonda etc and the overall EVO ethos I'll certainly be making sure it keeps arriving on my doormat.
After all on the train, on a plane or even in the smallest room in the house , you can't read an ezine...

Ah, cheers, maybe the current one is the last time we'll see them in the mag unless they contribute as freelancers thenGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
