No messing around with £999 price tags here - he wants £987 for his motor.
Out of the entire article that was the bit that got me most. I mean, where on earth did that obscure figure come from?Munter said:

I was ready to jump in the car before I saw it was an auto, still looks an absolute bargain though. The price seems a strange number to pick, but this has to be the best find yet. What happened to PH shed trading?
Agree!,......I'd totally forgot about that 'shed trading' feature though,...somebody needs to stop and get ,...that was a cracking little topic..Has one of those CSi BMW's been featured on this SOTW?,...or do they go for more than a grand??
You can pick them up now and again for under a grand, there was one on CarandClassic website two weeks back for £495. Problem with the E24 6 Series is they tend to rot heavily around the wings - and they are very expensive to replace!

I had a choice of one of these, an e34 535i Sport (manual) and a Merc 190 cosworth 2.3 dogleg. I opted for the e34 in the end as it has less rust problems and felt more grown up, the other two were like simple animals. The m30 engine has been around for years and is bulletproof, the rest of the car is good too, no major problems other than rot and running costs are reasonable (although this is relative), cheaper to run than my current 540! Surprisingly the 540 gets more mpg but costs far more to maintain. There are plenty of useful forums about though (as well as useless ones!)

Yep I vaguely remember watching a Wheeler Dealers 'BMW CSi' vid on youtube and them mentioning the wings issue. That's sometimes the case with these 'classic shed' cars,...they cost peanuts to buy and 'drain a small bank vault' to fix.

My M5 does drain money, but it is soo worth it!
And, you get more respect for owning an older car like this and knowing it's pedigree...
Did you mean the Z Roadster cars?

Relatively simple to maintain, parts availability still good, makes a useful family car and with a few mods can still surprise a few people on a track day. £108 pa fully comp insurance and 30+ mpg on a sensible run - and 12mpg on track ain't too bad either

Ooh, nice. Interior looks surprisingly good nick for the age too. Just a shame it's not a manual.
Maybe I'm being overly pedantic, but why do people refer to LSDs as 'slippy' diffs? Surely a normal open diff is the slippiest kind of diff, and an LSD is by definition a 'not so slippy diff'...

Great shed! As for it being an auto, I've driven modern, manual BMW's with more power than this one, but they weren't as much fun as the E30 325i (168 hp) auto that I got to drive years back.
Miguel
I bet it would have been alot more fun if it were a manual! Miguel
