RE: Ferrari 575M Revisited

575M is in my Top 5 Ferraris Of All Time. Maybe. Hmm.
So the scheme is amazing and everyone should buy a used Ferrari, but they will consider "poorly repaired crash damaged" cars and ON THE PRESS EVENT they gave you a car with a duff gearbox? Hmmm..
Indeed. But what can we expect from a site owned by Haymarket? A week or so ago they had the cheek to use pic of the week to advertise their own magazine -a lot. They mentioned said mag at least three times in a very short blurb!- goes off to think*

As for the dodgy gearbox - It not only sorted itself out, but I also can't be sure that it wasn't me flicking a switch somewhere in the first place that caused it...
You probably had it in auto mode (one of the round buttons on the aluminium panel on the centre console). Pressing the button again or engaging the change up or down steering wheel levers will disengage auto mode and go back to sequential mode. Edited by t1grm on Thursday 10th December 10:17

Actually that was my choice. I liked the pic, and thought it would work as a PH POTW. I asked the C&SC chaps if I could use it for free in return for a plug for them and they agreed. It was a win- win for both of us and we got a royalty free image to share with you guys.I didn't realise that would offend anyone? I was just being cheeky and asking some fellow HM chaps for a favour.

It didn't offend. I just found it very cheeky. I bet it boosted the sales anyway, huh? All's fair in love and mag sales after all!
Great pic, kind of. The fact that David was in it did spoil it for a few, I'm sure! LOL.

How much do you pay to use this site?
That is not the point. How can you criticise something which cost time and money to produce when you've contributed precisely nothing?
I bet you also stand in WHSmiths at lunchtime reading mags for free.

As for WHS? Go look up freudian projection and you'll have your answer.
As for contributions? Please, get a life. Or at least stalk me for a few months online and offline to determine my contributions to PH society, be they web-based or not.
What a surprise...yet another PH thread going completely off topic...
I was reading a 2002 Saturday Telegraph Motoring section last week (dont ask) and it had an article on Luca Di M and that this was his personal favourite Ferrari (at that time) which he uses on a daily basis. I saw a customer collecting a blue version with cream interior from Maranello in Egham about a year ago and it looked stunning - it was clear it was the Ferrari he had been promising himseld all his life...
It is the Ferrari I would buy - stunning.

.
Indeed..
Apologies.
The 575 is one of the best looking (imho) models Ferrari have produced (along with the 355) and it goes like stink (prefer the manual though). It has a presence that more modern models have not been able to replicate (again, imho).
As for the pre-purchase side of things, could you not use an independant and save on the main dealer pricing???
What a stunning car. I was lucky enough to take a 550 (manual) down to the Moto GP at Le Mans a couple of years ago and really fell in love with it. A real GT, fast and relaxing when you want it to be yet a cracking chassis and loads of steam when required!
I currently have a Cerbera which is often compared to the late 90's Ferrari GTs. It is undoubtedly a great car, probably faster than the 550 and extraordinarily exciting, but nowhere near the complete GT package that the Italian car offers.
Really I need both...

If the Ferrari F430 in the article doesn't make it into the Approved Scheme, when they come to sell it to a prospectiev customer, will the salesman let you know it was crashed, repaired poorly, interior nackered, brakes fecked, but it's ok sir, we tarted it up. ?
That's exactly what I was thinking - so they find that it has been in a crash and badly repaired, does that mean they polish it some more to hide it better, or do they actually reject it from their scheme?TVR653X said:

If I had been methodical I could have worked out exactly whether it was me or the car that went wrong, but I randomly prodded so many buttons that I couldn't tell either way...
