okay guys needed to ressurect this thread! sorry can anyone give tips on where i can book hotels/flights/tickets preferably in one go? thank you!
don't bother with a hotel : it's adjacent to the airport and an easy one day trip
buy your tickets on the door
easyjet works for me

Andrew,

Did you eat there? Any recommendations?

I'm also loathed to get any Swiss Francs, as the chance to use them after will be limited. Can I survive on Euros/Credit card do you think?

I ate there. I wasn't impressed; the bolognese penne cost CHF 16:- (that is £10)eek

A Walker's bag of crisps? 90p. Bounty bar? £1.20 eekeek

Yes, you can use your cards but do bear in mind the exchange rate, the commission (if any) and fees....

I was there for 3 days - any more and I'd be looking at bigger numbers on my Amex statement!

I had a few hundred francs from last year and did not convert it back into sterling, but used it this year. Again, 100 CHF:- left and I'll use it for the show 2011.

the food's fine, but yes it is expensive : only chf14 to get in but then chf10 on a sandwich
the airport supermarket is more reasonable
if you've got more time than us, then airport users get free travel into town

we used an atm at geneva airport and just got the cash we needed
i'm not sure if euros are ok

( beware that it got busy yesterday from noon until 3pm, and apparently the weekends are much worse )

Conversely, I went on Friday and was all done in 2/3 hours. It is a good and interesting motorshow but there's only so much tasty metal!

Don't go to Tenerife then - nearly 5 Euros for a long tube of Pringles among a plethora of other-worldly pricing.

Choccie bars - Mars, Twix, Snickers etc - in a vending machine at Epernay railway station (just a quiet, rural station) were two Euros a piece.

Sounds like Geneva's a bargain smile

Well, the show ends today. At least until March 2011! There's Paris in September too.

I hope these PH'ers who posted on this thread enjoyed themselves at the show this year.

Best picture this year was me, LP560 SL, Lamborghini girl and Valentino Babloni in one shot.

I went over for the day yesterday. It was fun but very very busy and I think the air-con must have been broken because it was so hot!

It's just a shame they didn't have anything going on outside or any driving displays. Most of the British shows I've been to have always had something else going on where you can actually see some cars moving!

Just about recovered.

Thanks for all the advice, it helped make the day run smoothly.

I'd echo 10JH, it was very busy and hot. TBH too busy, the scrum around the Ferrari stand just got silly. Still there was some good stuff to see, I enjoyed the odder stands like the Sbarro and Buford. Just makes you wonder how they ever get going and stay alive.

I think they could have planned the stands a bit better. Having Porshce opposite Aston Martin, Ferrari opposite Maserati and Bentley opposite Lamborghini made for some very very crowded and slow crowds in narrow corridors.

I agree the odd stands were interesting and I just don't get how they plan on making much money from the show.

On a side note, a Porsche salesman said that a Saudi Arabian man came in the day before and ordered seven 918s!

Did anyone notice that the freestanding stands were shoulder height? This is very good and benefical for the crowds wanting to take pictures of cars, but find themselves shooting walls, fancy displays etc. As a matter of fact, Geneva is the only independant motor show without showing blatant favouritism. Rolls-Royce is next to the Citroen stand - you would not see that here. That is why I went there for the 26th time knowing that there is no favouritism.

Sorry it got hot - I went on press days and didn't feel any effects.

And entrance cost is much lower than here. Can't say more can I?
