Yeah, I'm sure a Chinese car based on a 25 year old Honda will be an outstanding purchasing decision...
Which one's that then? The 6, at it's heart, has a modified MG ZT structure, with new suspension, subframes, bodywork, handling geometry, interior, engine...
The Honda-based cars died out with the 25/45 and will NOT be returning.

Ah, thought it was a ZS base - at least they're building on a BMW chassis then.
Yep, it's a bigger car than it looks in the flesh. You'd be getting a lot for your money.MG's new owners aren't stupid - they want a foothold in the European market and they have the money and expertise to ensure it doesn't fail. I think this is good news for Longbridge.
People used to say similar things about Japanese cars, then Korean ones. Their tone changed somewhat when Nissan opened a factory in Sunderland, especially after the area's steelworkers and miners had just been made redundant, and now look at it.

Is there a diesel in the range, or are they going to miss out on 50% of EU sales potential?10 Pence Short said:

None of MG Rover's models was ever built on a BMW chassis, and neither was this car designed in China.
Other than the 75/ZT that was designed during BMW's ownership of Rover, to be a cheap alternative to the 5-series? Munter said:
I'd buy one.
If it's £8k, 140bhp+, 60 mpg, and comes with a 10 year 100,000 warranty....and is reliable.
Not far off - £14.5k, 160bhp, mpg not tested yet but may not be bad, and as for the warranty - well we don't know yet but I'd imagine the Chinese might seek to vie with Kia and Hyundai to give long-term market appeal to an 'unproven' car, so I'm guessing at the very least it'll be longer than the bog-standard three years. If it's £8k, 140bhp+, 60 mpg, and comes with a 10 year 100,000 warranty....and is reliable.
I'm quite enthusiastic about this car, actually. With the right gearbox it'll be not bad to drive and will slot in between the compact execs and family hatches, into the ground that the Peugeot 406 left behind. Slim pillars too - that's a welcome surprise.
