Sorry to read about your M5 being stolen can t imagine how pissed off you must be. Keep your eye on e-bay as they could try and shift some bits through there.

My M5 has been found!!!
Police called yesterday to say that they have located the car.
Apparently it is on different number plates and has been used in another robbery.
Front bumper is missing and there are dents and scratches all over...
Insurance company is assessing the damage to decide if it can be repaired or not.
Will keep you posted.

Have you seen the video of someone's 997 S and C220 CDI Sport been stolen from Ilford, which isn't far form you, other night? The scum arrived in a silver M5 sans front bumper: http://www.bmwowner.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&am...

I love my cars enough to think that any dents on my p+j, let alone a missing bumper, is enough to cause me enough woe for it. Sorry to hear it chap, hope everything goes the way you want it to.

At least your car was located. Let's just hope it doesn't show up on Police Interceptors!

Good in one way at least now the claim can progress and you will have a resolution. But you've had to make do without a car for all this time how did you survive the commute etc

Good news that it has been found!!

But bad news about how its been treated.

Would you want it back repaired or want a decent payout?

The two best solutions are a decent Tracking device for your cars and a good alarm system in your home which you set at night for downstairs. My personal favourite is this....which would neither upset the children or neighbours.

Any news from the police as to where the car may go, ie for parts or export?

We can set the downstairs alarm at night but I think I would st my pants if it went off. I would rather they break in, get what they want and then go without coming up stairs. Its a tough call.

If you buy a cheap phone and car charger it only takes ten minutes to wire it to the permenant live and conceal it behind the stereo.
Register the phone with
www.traceamobile.com
(do this before concealing it as you will have to respond to a text confirming it is your phone)
If the car is taken you can track it easily or let the BiB know.
Make sure you leave the thing on silent.

Same car? Can someone quote the thread in question as it needs an account to be read.

If it's not the same car then it's one hell of a coincidence. I might sign up just to read it. Will then copy and paste.

ETA: Turns out I already have an account... weird. Gimmee a sec.

Anticlimax - video removed by user. By all accounts it was a CCTV video of the cars being stolen showing the M5 turn up without bumper.

I'm glad you got it back, but I would rather if it was mine they kept it. Hopefully the payout would get you another one smile

Scum.

The poisoned booze is a great idea, the only downside is if they happen to pass it onto or share it with somebody who is innocent or unconnected.

OP, I hope that they opt to give you a payout, sounds like the car will have been through the wars.

Vano - at the end of the day you still own one of the finest cars ever made. If the insurance decides to not repair it you can still use the money to fix the important things and not worry about the cosmetics (if you can). Best of luck, genacvale smile

Hi
I have just read your posts and now the faint shimmer of hope that my M5 stolen over Christmas will be found too.
What did you do with yours, did you have it back and repair or did you take the payout from the insurance company?

jakwyn, sorry to hear about your loss.
In my case, insurance company declared the car financial write-off due to the damage.
The car was invovled in frontal impact and probably off-roaded as well.
I would not have wanted to get that car back after what happenned so writing off was the best outcome.
