Been trying to find somewhere local (Argos/ToysRus) to pick up the Unimog today, or somewhere online that will deliver it tomorrow with no luck frown
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004OT2WKO/ref=asc_df_B...

Be quick, you should be able to prime it. smile

ETA: Maybe not! Doesn't give me a one-day delivery option :\
It was showing as one-day delivery earlier today, decided I would have a wee think about it, couple of hours later I decided to purchase and it was showing as one-day delivery not available frown

Bought this set from Amazon at 12:50pm yesterday, arrived mid-morning this morning. Spent about 5 hours building it so far, the thing is massive!

I have previously bought & built the Lego Technic car recovery truck but this is way more complex.

Worried it is so complex I'll finish it & bits of the gearing wont work!

Bought myself the new Technic F1 car even though it's not yet officially on sale.....

Got it all over the dining room table along with the Rescue Helicopter & the Excavaror. Not too mention my sons Lego Star Wars kits everywhere!!!

I can't make my mind up about modern lego, to me that looks like it's got way too many bespoke pieces compared to a classic technic kit such as..

Not as many as you might think: the body panels are common among several kits. I have the V8 supercar, the unimog and the excavator and the body panels used are identical apart from colour; decals provide the individual detail.

Im building the unimog as i type, i'd not had lego since some technic bits i had when i was about 12. The detail is very impressive, like you say its a lot different to the old kits, but IMO that ony makes it better.

I take that back then, looked like loads were bespoke the kit but obviously not. Very tempted to buy a Mindstorms kit at the moment, the NXT 2.0 is under £200 now.

Very Jealous, and I thought Lego had gone downhill in recent years and become all themed crap!!!

Same here, I am 41 and just finished an hour ago building the unimog and thoroughly enjoyed building it, it appealed to my OCD'ish mind to get parts all organised etc.

Fortunately it all seems to be working ok!

Only SLIGHT downside is my nearly 5yr old daughter was COMPLETELY disinterested, but I suppose that goes with the teritory.

I have this one - and converted it into a permanent 4x4 'crawls over everything' vehicle.

So, thread revival, and as usual late to the party but my UniMog is on the way and I had to tell someone.

Anyone other sad middle aged blokes getting excited about Lego ?

Oh yes! I was 40 in September & my OH got me the Unimog - it's awesome although I have decided being a crane operator is not my calling.

My son has just turned 6 & we're currently building the Lego City Cargo plane - the OH is delightedlaugh

My missus bought me the Lego Enzo a few years back, a complete surprise and took me back to being ten, compared to the normal contrived or boring gifts I know about because I chose them, it was a great one.

However, this time she pulled a face and said why, so I ordered it myself, she tends to ask me what I want and rejects most ideas and buys something she wants or deems appropriate, an electric saw for cutting up wood for the log burner was purchased, and women have the audacity to bh when you buy them a new Iron ! which is what I may get her instead of the selection of "Pandora Charms", a load of overpriced, pointless st I am sure you will agree but I understand the idea of "Want", you cant explain it, it doesn't make sense but I wanted a plastic kit to make a little tractor type thing.

I pointed out that whilst I am doing Lego at home I may be a sad Man/Boy hybrid but I am not out Being Unfaithful, Getting done for Fraud or Gambling like some of her mates husbands have been but will do if I dont get my Lego, cue big tantrum in Toys R Us.
