Anyone bidding on anything in the current DVLA auction? I have my eye on a plate so have been watching it live on and off over the last 24 hours and some strong money being paid IMO.
Like what? Some always surprise, both ways.

Silly money for the two plates that need to be chavved up to mean anything! and over twelve grand for a 4 x 2.....I know it has a birth year as well, but I think the 'usual' going rate for these is around £4k?

The AB 4x2 does look like strong money. Regtransfers ( other plate companies are available) have some nice 3x2 AB plates and even a couple of 2x2 AB plates at that sort of price point.
Still it proves the old adage, a plate is worth what someone will pay for it!

Of course, it could be that two people with the initials AB and born in 1962 both really want the plate and just keep bidding higher to get it. One will probably reach his or her budget in the end!

I bid on one that I'd requested to be put in. Someone was prepared far more than I was, though.

It was a dealer and a telephone bidder bidding against each other to get to that price. Very strong, but the dealer must have had a customer in mind in order to bid that high.

It'd be funny if the dealer had in mind the person they were bidding against!

I was bidding on a couple today but prices were really strong. I was after '26 O' but it went for £30,000. Around 10k more than a similar plate in the last DVLA auction

I got BF 41 (initials) in yesterdays auction. Put in an internet bid for the reserve of £2500 the night before. Got scared on the morning of the auction and bumped it up to £2600 just incase... Won it for £2600! Really pleased considering how strong money some of the other plates went for.

Got 6 FRD (sons called Freddie) in an unsold lot a few auctions ago for £1600 which I was more pleased with!

That's a shame. One of my plates was a requested plate and I got it......for the maximum I bid before the sale, coincidentally.

Nice purchases! I wish I could get hold a 2x2 to suit my initials for that money! frown
