An excellent question, but ...

that would depend on who's riding it, the Rossi fans would have you believe he'd be quicker then Lorenzo or Marquez ... puncharguebiggrin

But more importantly, do you have any idea how much a Moto GP bike costs ? That would completely destroy the cost element of the pro bikers argument smashsillyhehe

How much are they?
Surely they cannot cost much more than £30k all up

Haha. Nice troll attempt.

I suspect they cost millions.
Think of all the bespoke parts designed, analysed, manufactured, tested. No economies of scale to speak of.

I can imagine that the ceramic brakes and suspension are multiples of £30k alone then the gearbox huge amount then the engine (how high do they spin? 28k rpm? )

Moto gp bike's are prototypes, nothing is shared with any of the companies road bikes, they are a world away from what is raced at the TT

Does that mean the equivalent of a sports bike would be a sports car, rather than say, a Moto GP race bike against a race car?

In which case, is there someone with something like a McLaren P1 who fancies tinkering with it and risking the course?

Whether they fancy it or not is not he point, they wouldn't get a chance, Subaru somehow managed to convince the Manx authority to allow them, via providing course cars for the TT, they wouldn't throw it open for anyone to turn up and have a crack, id imagine just running the two week TT event is a logistical nightmare.

Oooof, thanks for these smile Got any more ?
That looks to be some proper WRC hardware under that bonnet.

No heat sink problems this year with the fitment of an FMIC.
It's a proper piece of kit (and far more impressive that I gave them credit for after seeing the video on PH initially) much respect to Prodrive, Subaru USA, STi, Higgins and the TT organisers for enabling this attempt to come fruition.

A shame the last of Subaru's WRC cars didn't look like this.

Not really. Bruce Anstey is arguably one of the fastest around the TT circuit and he struggled around on this:

Came 9th from memory.

Nice pics bigmowley!

I wasn't really that bothered about the current Subaru before but this one is making me see it in a whole new light. It makes me want to rush off to the classifieds, I guess that's how this sort of marketing exercise works by changing our perception of a model.

It's also got me watching a bit of the bike racing (ITV 4 last night), so it's drawing in viewers that otherwise wouldn't have bothered.

Great job by everyone involved.

Fresh from an accident though, isn't he, so probably not at his best.

Bruce came off two days ago at 120mph ... To even be able to walk let alone race at the TT on 1000cc bikes and still come in 9th is mighty impressive.

With you on this.

I loved the original Impreza 2000 yet everything in between nope. If Suburu build a monster like this and sell it here in the UK that would certainly get my interest

I think a Moto GP bike with a TT rider would be faster than a Moto GP champion.

The TT riders have years of knowledge which is a definite advantage at somewhere like the TT.

I watched the World Touring Car championship from the Nurburgring a couple of weeks ago.

The pro drivers were fast, but there were quite a few crashes at known beginner crash points.

In my opinion, simply down to lack of knowledge/track time.

Padgetts ran a YZR500 at the Classic TT in 2014, before they could think about booking the ferry the entire front end had to be remade in aluminium.

Using the magnesium fork lowers and yokes was considered too risky, especially when you think back to the late Robert Dunlops' crash a few years back on an RC45.
