Oh I don't know about that... there are some limits. biggrin
Are Austin Allegro's in that limit?

So long as they're not barried. I think that anyone who turned up in a barrywagon would experience the same level of ridicule that they do on the forums... and rightly so. hehe That's a different world and personally, I'd rather it didn't encroach into this one.

I think the Golf with the, I think it's called, Euro-Look wheels (undersize tyres on wide rims - Why confused) was pretty borderline.

Having been to a dedicated meet at Brooklands you'd be surprised how little space there actually is in the museum car park and on the banking.

what would you consider barried then? as my car has a few modifications, most of which many people wouldnt even notice granted, but having wolfrace wheels doesnt help (they will be replaced soon, just need to get the funds together) along with an exhaust system and induction kit (mainly for the noise.. how often do you get to hear 5 cylinders sign their off beat tune? plus it has helped performance, 9 bhp improvement at the fly on a trusted rolling road)

O2 Dome? Lots of public parking.
Central London... silly
It's not Central London at all - it's off the A2.

Good suggestion I thought. Parking, capacity, toilets, food.

Perhaps the issue with numbers wasnt anything to do with PH'ers.
Quite a few people have commented that the meet was posted (advertised) on a number of 'other' forums, Lotus, TVR ( even guilty myself of putting it on the cobra site)etc and I am sure several others.
With that in mind there was no way anyone could have known how many would attend because a large number of them didnt know to put their names on the list, they just turned up because it was on, maybe that was the problem yesterday, I dont know.
When we arrived about 11 it was a bit chaotic outside I have to agree, and the entrance was blocked with cars, however the exit was clear and there were several spaces available, so we just went up the road a bit turned around and sneaked in the back door !
Perhaps in future it should be stated that its a PH thing and not to be cross posted etc, I know in some ways that defeats the object of getting together with our cars, no matter what they are, but it might just ease a situation like yesterday, whereby some 200-300 cars turned up that wernt expected.
Yes I know the weather helped the turnout, but we all knew it was going to be a good day from at least Friday, so no real excuses there for not stating attendance, and yes I know that there will always be some that are not able to commit until the day, we have lives, wives, GF's, kids what have you, and its not always agreeable with them that you dissapear for a few hours on a sunday morning, brownie points have to be earned after all, but nowhere near the number we are talking about yesterday.
If its a PH event perhaps it should stay a PH event, after all how would all the specialist clubs feel if they had a meeting and a couple of hundred other cars just turned up !???? just because they knew it was on and they fancied a drive out !!!

'morning all. I am 'the bloke from the cafe'. We are sorry that we were unable to cater for you all yesterday. Our only pointer for numbers were the threads which on Saturday night was just over 100, (plus a few in convoy). Okay, think of a figure and double it, so we prepared enough to feed 240 with bacon/cheese rolls. As the station car park which has 380 spaces filled so quickly, estimates currently stand at between 500 and 600 cars. We had no offers of help with marshalling. Maybe in future if any volunteers wish to step forward to help, it would be gratefully accepted. With regard to the conditions of my lease, SouthEastern trains gave me their official clearance to host the event as long as no one parked in the disabled spots, (hence my hovering there all morning). I had a long chat with the traffic officer who arrived later in the morning. His only issue was the obstruction caused by parking on the kerb on the hill opposite. We would love to be involved with more PH events and have done everything in our power to enhance your day yesterday and at last year's event. I Know that the variety of cars is one of the great things about the day, but maybe we could consider themed mornings, in the same way that Goodwood host their breakfast club?
Nice to chat to you .... sorry I did not offer to 'guard the bays'

Excellent turn out, I can only echo everyone else. Much better than last year, though thats probably down to the weather. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I agree, perhaps its become a victim of its own success and should perhaps look toward a bigger venue. I have one in mind, but I'm not sure whether it'd be possible without some sort of cost involved, might be worth investigating though.

Groombrige Place

They have plenty of huge gravel parking and its a really nice place, perhaps a potential Sunday Service location for July/Aug time, perhaps even an evening event?

There is always a few complete wrs at any meet, I certainly met one on Sunday.. don't take it to heart mate, it's the passion that counts smile

Jon, loved the primera, very similar to the way i want to go with my alfa (that will be the only car that i take to meets from now on with the comments i got with the bravo, thought this was a car forum for the entuasiast, not a willy waving contest and snob show frown really put a nasty tarnish on the day for me)
Don't worry Andy, your Bravo looked as sharp as any other machine (not everyone can afford Ferrari). Thanks for attending and run from Maidstone. See you next timebyebye
ahh, it was your Jag i was chasing down the m20 smile was a good lil blast that until i started spewing steam frown all fixed again mind so shouldnt do the same again on the next run thumbup
Andy what comments did you get? That's certainly no the PH way!
frown thats a real shame isnt it frown

+1 what was said to you Andy

frown Thats really disappointing to hear... doesn't matter what you drive, we were all there with the same passion. My first car was a 'W' reg Fiesta and it was my P&J at the time, just the same as my M5 is now!

Take heart in the fact that people who made those comments drive a sports car because it's a status thing, not because they have a passion... smile

i was in the black nissan pulsar gti-r and while i was driving in i had the same comments said to me and i quote" why would you bother turning up in a chav'd up sunny, what a w**ker" is alittle ott as we are all there for the same reason, i went to see a nice selection of cars that i wouldtn normaly see, i'm 22 and not on 30k+ a year and cant afford a lambo, tvr or any sort of car like that
