Reading the article I didn't understand this "“They should’ve phoned us and told us and we could have done it straight away online – it’s that quick and it could have saved us all this trouble.” How can they tax it without a valid MOT

Not parking of their car but just before Christmas, supermarket car park is full so woman obstructs space with 2 trolleys whilst her husband gets car from "round the corner".

Reading the article, it says it was taxed and the clamp removed. So I am still confused how they were able to tax it without an MOT.

I imagine the vehicle is seized on the spot (was stopped at first passenger pick up point, apparently) with the advantage of surprise. Once seized, I guess DVLA and driver not legally allowed to move it until it is lifted / towed.

But then, what do I know . . .
