PTR sportscars as in the Peter of Wheeler not Trevor as in Trevor of Wilkinson
something along the lines of a road going G55 with 380 bhp and a 1000kg max weight would do nicely thankyou

Though I do love the idea of an "RVT" in the mirror
yes

Of course it would stand for Rapid Vehicular Transport
something like this biggrin

the R and T could stand for Road and Track

Do you not think the original TVR logo might possibly be part of the trademark portfolio of TVR?

It is and indeed Smolenski has just registered it so using that is not on either, also the RTV idea is used by a specialist in Chehire

A specialist in Chehire? Where's Chehire? Is it in the UK? smile

i could be exposing my ignorance of copyright law, but surely if NS is deciding (and stating publicly) that he is no longer playing in the car game, and is concentrating on wind farms (?), then surely another company using the TVR brand for vehicles in the UK is not in breach? Or does he still own that despite not wanting to use it...

As I've mentioned above his company is still the registered owner of the trademark and as such anyone using it in relation to the areas it's registered could be held in breach of that. It doesn't to be active to remain a valid ownership

That said, (I don't know the intricacies of this) but he might struggle to defend his ownership when the renewal comes up if he sticks by his decision and nothing further has happened but you'd be on dodgy ground I suspect at the moment

The trademark was registered when they were making cars and is owned by him. It will be valid regardless of whether he no longer makes cars.

So no one else can use that brand or image for the purpose which his trademark is covering.

Just my opinion, there is so much goodwill re the historical links to TVR as a range of cars, the cars are important, not the name or the hissy russian.
Recreate the car, i.e. the marketable models, find an alternative name that wont waste time of legal faff and the russian.
Use cash for existing designs, dont waste money/time on russian rubbish.
I am sure a name will pop out via P/H.
Now a business plan is needed to find the moulds etc and find some skilled ex TVR workers and see if a new start is possible, everyone interested chips in £100 and becomes a risky shareholder. Worst you could do is lose £100 or maybe be car manufacturers.yes

Similar thing with Triumph Motor cars, didn't BMW keep ownership of that when they 'sold' Rover on, they haven't used the name for anything since, but if you launched a car company of that name I'm sure they would be hammer you with legal challenges.

Does Trident cars still do business?
I know they made a few Icenci and long long time ago they also worked with TVR?

they are a small company to I think...
but they invested already a lot...maybe TVR 02 can use that lovely stainless mono from them...(without that top part) no more rusty outriggers biggrin

looks fine to me...then TVR could make their own carros around that and their own sort interior etc and engine choice

so share the chassis (most of it) that way save a lot costs for both parties....
it has a bit TVR in it...possibility for the time being?

more of that Trident Iceni>>

their GT2 car from a few years back almost looks like one.

Max torque:950lb/ft@1800rpm
that stainless chassis must be pretty strong if you see that torque level, so easily can handle a lot normal petrol V8 power...could be a good candidate

Well done, Smolensky. Here's hoping you do as fine a job with TVR Wind Turbines as you did with TVR Cars...

Why not face up to the evidence that you're not in any way, shape or form capable or running a business? Banking = fail. Cars = fail. Looking forward to hearing of your next failure. You'd do better to put Daddy's money on a horse.

i would imagine he is hanging onto the name not because he is in denial, but on the possibility that someone might pay a lot of money to try and rekindle the name at some point quite far in the future. Happens a lot in the car biz right? That's the only thing I can think of. Russians are all fking nuts though.

Notice this anouncement came shortly after TVRPower was in the news for changing the name. Very good decision that was on Doms behalf.
