I don’t think there is one - this is a tiny section of a chain near Blois we visited in 2019. Knocks Greggs into a cocked hat and much cleaner too!
That all looks lovely, but I bet it's a little more expensive than Greggs, and even more so than Pound Bakery.Hungry now.

If you can't even be bothered to read what's written you're wasting my time.
I think the problem is that I am actually bothering to read what you wrote. If it’s a waste of your time, what was it you said, “Reading this is not compulsory.”.Anyway, I hope you enjoy the end of your trip.

This isn't something I've ever thought about or paid attention to when I've been there, but what's the French equivalent of Greggs?
There is a chain called 'Paul's' here that fits the bill but much better in many ways.Boxster5 said:
Ha ha - we were like kids in a sweet shop (relatively speaking)! Yes it was a little more expensive than Greggs (but not massively so) - I’d rather pay a bit more for something that is much much nicer and freshly baked (not bake-off).
A good point - around here we go from Pound Bakery (where very little was a pound last time I went in) to Greggs, and then there's a massive jump to a local bakery chain - very nice stuff, but more than double Greggs pricing, though not quite at "Artisan" levels.Johnniem said:
There are a few 'Pauls' in central London, all of which follow the traditional boulangerie style. They are expensive too! It never fails to amuse me that 'Pauls' are autoroute service station outlets in France. Maybe they are too downmarket for the French! It just shows what we Brits accept these days! Sad but not surprising!
To be fair, Paul is good quality for what it is. We use them on Autoroute stops, because having a dog limits what/where else we can eat. Paul does decent salads, at a price.Johnniem said:

Blimey. I always categorised Pauls as 'posh'.br d said:
You do realise we must actually know each other man? There are too many links here.
I just hope you aren't one of the many people I fell out with at one point or another, small town stuff!
Probably! You can't miss me. I'm 6ft 3" 19 stone, shaved head and most people know me as Bucko. I just hope you aren't one of the many people I fell out with at one point or another, small town stuff!
Used to drink in the Duke all the time until I moved to Kent.

I just had one of those "Only on a trip" type moments.
While I'm sitting sodding about with the dashcam a guy comes wobbling in on one of the hotel bikes.
He comes over and asks about the car, he's American and thinking of buying an old Porsche.
I have some experience of this so we get to talking.
It turns out him and his partner have just bought this hotel!
We are talking astronomical money. They are shutting it next month and doing a massive renovation and re-working. We end up talking for an hour and I have learned so much about the corporate, finance and running of a big hotel, it's fascinating.
He's promised me one of the first rooms when they re-open if I return next July.
We are meeting for breakfast in the morning. He was as equally fascinated in what I do as I was in his game. Brilliant stuff, just a lovely bloke who happens to own 5 star hotels all over the world!
It was a complete education.
I've worked with a lot of hotels over the last 10+ years and have been in some of the best hotels in London, front and back of house, and the best way to judge how good a hotel is, is by looking at the back of house areas. If they are immaculate, the whole hotel will be. From food to service.
Prime example, the Lanesborough. Simply cannot fault it.
The Ritz prior to its revamp and take over a few years ago was a sh*t hole.
Personal favourite is The Stafford. The food in the restaurant is superb, and The American Bar is just excellent.

Who are you referring to?
I imagine the above is aimed at The Moose, slightly unfairly, as he is generally one of the good guys.....He expressed an opinion, and it brought out some sycophants who felt, for some reason, that Brad couldn't adequately defend himself.

Thanks Doofus. I’ve never been called a sycophant before, so that’s something I’ve achieved today! I had to check the dictionary:
“a person who acts obsequiously towards someone important in order to gain advantage”
Not sure what advantage I gained by expressing my view of The Moose’s post. I’m clearly only an amateur sycophant. Must try harder.
