One single thing that makes you think "knob" Vol 2

People who think you need to have a expensive sports car in order to prove you are a petrolhead.
Hooray! It's not just me then?I have been absolutely slated/trolled on specialist forums when I've revealed that I own a relatively modest car and don't have a 6.0 V12 monster in the garage. It's like a pissing contest. Never mind that I'm passionate about cars and have actively been involved in the restoration of some classic "performance" models over the years.
In fact, the classic scene seems to have some of the most cliquey, judgemental and snobbish tts out of all the motoring enthusiast circles. Can't we all just enjoy the cars, regardless of whether we have the finances/space/time to own them ourselves?
Crazy woman yesterday, in Sainsbury's car park. I was crossing the zebra crossing directly outside the door of the shop, she was busy doing whatever else it is that a dizzy Doris does when she really ought to be concentrating on driving through a busy supermarket car park. So she whizzed around a corner and damn near wiped me out, and when she realised what she had done (as I pulled my foot back to avoid her driving over it) she gave that 'dumb, helpless' look that women do, and sort of half-waved/half-shrugged. What were you supposed to do? fking look where you are going, and pretty much EXPECT to see people crossing from the car park into the shop, you halfwit. Oh, and drive a little slower in such a hazard filled environment. If I'd have had a trolley at the time, I'd have shoved it into the side of your shiny blue BMW 1 series, and let you explain the cause to your insurance company
Last night, narrow country lane, I'm heading up a fairly steep hill with a bend on it. I was travelling at about 20 mph.
Round the bend and down the hill comes a Transit flat bed with a Focus on the back, driven by a very young, dirty looking manboy with no shirt on.
I stop in about a car length. Then sit stationary and watch whilst he can't stop and has to mount the bank to avoid me, ending up alongside, and thank goodness there was a bank available.
Then, leans out to tell me I need to slow down. I just laughed at him.
Of course what I really wanted to do was stop and explain some basics about physics and driving techniques and appropriate speeds, but a)He zoomed off, and b)he wouldn't have understood.

I don't discourage overtakes, it's an everyday bit of driving, I do them, you do them, most people do them.
Just so you know as there are a lot of tts who do this, I didn't flash, honk, gesticulate or speed up, in fact I slowed slightly.
I could of course just be grumpy because I got overtaken by a bloody Prius.
No they don't, in my experience most just sit behind like sheep! Perhaps their small engined tin boxes can't drag their asses safely past?Just so you know as there are a lot of tts who do this, I didn't flash, honk, gesticulate or speed up, in fact I slowed slightly.

When someone with a car with some power tries to overtake they then behave like you just described. Do they get grumpy because someone in a Jaguar dares to overtake them?
Overtaking should be included on the driving test with a fail if unable to do safely. Perhaps then people would realise that they are actually allowed to do it

That's a good idea although should people really need to be told that?
well of course not. However it's clearly stating that the scottish highways agency is on the side of the driver who wants to make a safe overtake, and that it's entirely normal thing to do, and that the driver holding someone up unnecessarily is in the wrong. In theory you shouldn't need to be told very much in life, but we do need it and it does make a difference. A sign doesn't hurt as much as an accident does.
Pulling into a residential road, car (Vectra with an old boy driving) waiting to pull out is sitting slightly diagonally across the white line making it difficult for me to pull in. Not the crime of the century but I gave a quick blast of the horn (self righteous I know...) and got a complete load of abuse back i'm talking proper swearing, hands everywhere etc. Thought he was going to have a stroke! He then tried to back up and chase me.
Is it so hard to admit when you're wrong and just stick an apologetic hand up?

Sounds like you both over reacted. Is it so hard to admit when you're wrong and just stick an apologetic hand up?
Semen-stain in a brand new Range Rover pulled out on me without indicating as I approached a mini-roundabout, turned right at said roundabout without indicating and then stopped in the middle of the exit for a few seconds, crawled forward at 5mph with no indication of why and then gave me the beans when I overtook him. Strange man.

Would it have hurt, given it was difficult for you to pull in to let them out?Is it so hard to admit when you're wrong and just stick an apologetic hand up?
Don't flame, just asking.

No flaming necessary as it's a fair point assuming that it was necessary for me to let him out. Maybe my description wasn't very good but I was turning left into the road that he was turning right out of. I was clearly turning in, indicating, very slow speed etc due to sharpish turn so he had plenty of opportunity to pull out and had no need for me to let him out as I wouldn't of been obstructing him in any way but he just sat there. No apparent problems with his car just a stupid and completely unnecessary position. Don't flame, just asking.
It wasn't like I'd lent on the horn either it was literally just 'WTF are you doing?' blip that I don't really see how it warranted his pretty extreme reaction and then trying to chase me down in reverse.
Anyway regardless of this particular situation and whether I was as much a knob for tapping the horn it is frustrating how increasingly people take go on the offensive rather than just apologise if they are in the wrong.

This car with the "hilarious" stickers
Not only does the lack on punctuation annoy me, but it also had one severely deflated rear tyre
Any chance the BiB might pull that over for offensive language? Considering that some folks got pulled up for having the image of two humping rhinos on the spare wheel cover on Suzuki "jeeps" you'd think that was worthy of a quick chat. Not only does the lack on punctuation annoy me, but it also had one severely deflated rear tyre

In that case well justified. People who can't pull out of junctions without written permission and can't position themselves in the road despite the white line guides or made for this thread. And his reaction, given that he was in the wrong was certainly excessive. It wasn't like I'd lent on the horn either it was literally just 'WTF are you doing?' blip that I don't really see how it warranted his pretty extreme reaction and then trying to chase me down in reverse.
