I like this.

Does it have an LSD?

And as for people saying the Toybaru will be better cos it's RWD, don't be daft. I think it's unwise to make that kind of claim without driving either. Good fwd > bad rwd.

I do like this a lot. But I'd take the Toybaru simply because they will be RWD.
What he said ^^
yes Also, have you driven a CRZ? Visibility is apalling, it's like driving a panelvan.

I borrowed a friend's once, and in the end I had to hand the keys back to him so he could park it - I couldn't see anything out of the rear 180-degrees at all. It has parking sensors, but this is no substitute for proper visibility, and they don't stop you missing the huge articulated lorries, bikers, pedestrians and other cars you accidentally cut up pulling out of junctions. Looking at the Toyota, it seems the rear pillars are much more revealing.

I have this problem with the latest Civic too. What were Honda thinking with that rear spoiler?

Honda make cars for pensioners... they don't need to see out of the back as they never bother looking.

That says more about you than it does about the car tbh.
Inclined to agree. If I can hire a Transit van and then reverse-park it in Sainsbury's, I would have thought a small Honda would be a breeze.

Is this essentially the car Vicky drove on Fifth Gear the other week, where she was getting 29mpg ave and complained about the understeer?

It's more the 29mpg that interests me though, I wonder what an EP9 Civic Type R would have achieved over the same course? 28-30mpg maybe?? Doesn't really seem like an advancement to me.

If you are thrashing it to the point that you are getting under-steer, it's not in the slightest bit surprising that the mpg drops off a cliff. The hybrid comes into its own when accelerating gently from a stop, coasting and engine braking gently. Not being ragged straight from full-throttle to full brakes constantly.

Bet an EK9 wouldn't have got that respectable, the B16B likes a good thrashing.

The 29mpg figure isn't great, but take it in context against another 200BHP hot hatch and it seems respectable. My Clio 200 is lucky to get 22mpg when I have an enthusiastic drive in it.

Was it on a trcak? if so the EK9/EP3 is in on cam going round a track you'll be lucky to see 12-13

Maybe you should watch the article?

And driving a hot hatch gentle is sort of counter intuitive, you might as well buy the diesel model instead.

This.

Driving my EP3 enthusiastically on the road would see it doing high teens. I've heard of some owners getting less than 10mpg on track.

That was my main gripe with the CR-Z as well - you feel sort of morally obliged to make best use of the available energy-saving technology, drive in Eco mode as much as possible, keep throttle inputs low et cetera, making the experience rather less than enjoyable (as well as leaving overly large gaps in traffic in jams and/or when the pace picks up again), to find that your average fuel consumption is barely lower than in your Mini Cooper which you drive as you see fit (which is rather spiritedly most of times).

Hey, so is driving a 600bhp V8 and then cheering when you can nurse it to 30mpg wink

It was on Advan 048R Tyres aswell. Hardly production road car stuff.

Lol yeah right.

Why on earth would the Civic be better? Isn't 30mpg a Civic on a good day?

How about one of the cars is still legal to sell as it passes EU5? Seems enough of an advancement to me.

I do hope they (Mugen -UK-) sort out the s/c pipework radius problem that led to the s/c pipe being disconnected during a run at this years' FoS. Also, it needs to be lighter for faster responses and they need to sort out the ride as the one I tried was very fidgetty.

I still me my old DC2 - I wonder if some of that magic will be in the wee Mugen?

I love my WR1 but hate the fuel/insurance, and just how the best way to drive it is seriously illegal - hopefully Honda/toyota and Subaru will have something that is fun/frugal and good to look at. I've an order in for the new Subaru, but am wondering if the CRZ might just offer something a little different. That and I've always loved the brand.
