at nearly 200k miles more things are likely too need replacing though..
Quite but all the things listed are pretty common on most of them irrespective of mileage?

It's unlikely to have made it to 200k without having many of this done at some point over the last 10 years anyway - sure, some of it will be due again soon just as it'll be due first time soon on some of the much more expensive ones..

I'm not saying it wont need a tonne of work at some point in the near future. I'm more saying it's a used E46 M3, they come as standard needing a tonne of work at some point in the future almost irrespective of mileage.

Without trying to push you into anything you don't want to do, I'd say get it bought-as someone said offer him 4 grand minus the cost of a set of good tyres.

Things to remember costs wise:

Oil service 200
Insp 1 700
Insp 2. 800
Brakes full set 1000
Clutch. 1000

All prices +or- & not at franchised dealers

Other than that everything else is just like any other old car, yes things will need replacing but its a bloody M3, & technically it's only one series out of date smile
The Insp 1&2 prices you've quoted seem very high. I paid £560 for an insp 2 inc *all* fluids and valve clearance checks in October.

OP - Do it!

FFS it's only £4k, if it's as good as you describe - just buy it.

Don't worry about the 18 versus 19 debate, mine had 18's - the ride was fine, handling better balanced, tyres were cheaper.
