It's a 728is. Lovely barge especially on LPG. Cheap as chips to run apart from the 255s on the back.....

tell me about it. i've just bought some (rather good!) goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2's for the front in 235/50R18....even at mates rate they were still around £350 for the pair; and my rears need doing in about 4k miles frown

They're truly great cars. I run 40's on the front of mine to reduce front wash-out when I'm giving it some stick, works a treat.

My Saab 9000 had 189k on the clock when I bought it and is now just under 219k.

As far as I am aware it's still on its original turbo and timing chain, but it had a gearbox rebuild at about 160k.

A few years ago had an ex taxi Mk2 Mondeo 1.8 Endura diesel with 286K on the clock, sold it on to another guy who did a further 40K with it. It had in its life three clutches but still on its original and never been apart engine and box. Only downside would be you would have to hold it in first gear to stop it dropping out into neutral as the linkage was worn.
Have a mate who has an Omega 2.5 diesel (BMW straight six) with 530K, original engine/box and only two clutches in its life, still runs and drives superbly..
Are these cars used for undercover work? Thought you'd want to make sure the drivetrains were top notch in case a code red pursuit was called.

My brother in laws X Reg C240 Mercedes, my mates Dad owned the car from new and done most of the miles. It's still on the same engine, gear box etc... It is still a tight car! The photo below was taken about a year ago just as my brother-in-law rolled it onto it's side...

My 1.3 Mk2 Astra is on 215k and is just coming out of it's major restoration. It's had a multitude of body work, but engine, box and inner CVs are from the factory. It's had a few clutches and a HG at 150k.

198000 miles on my A4 1.9 Tdi, drives like a dream. Had it over seven years and 120000 miles.Serviced regularly, still on original clutch. Cost very little over the last 3 years. Similar just sold for £950 in a local auction, which was a pleasant surprise. Thought it was worth next to nothing, but priceless to me. 50+ mpg. 55+ on motorway run,
Passing it over to my 19 year old son next month and Admiral will insure him fully comp for £700 (no difference third party). He's been driving as a named driver for 2 clean years.
Getting rid of his 06 plate 206 tin can.
Just spent £420 getting the bodywork up to scratch so to speak, and £400 to get it through it's mot (mainly labour... the brakes needed attention), money well spent as far as i'm concerned.

I've been in several taxis in Dubai with 700,000+ KM's on the clock. Got talking to one of the cabbies in a 770km Hyundai Sonata that said the car was only two years old. He said once the cars go into service they only stop for maintenance. 2 x 12 hr shifts from 5 'til 5 each day. I was quite impressed. Also explains why they drive like nutters!

They only use three cars: Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima.

Mrs B's old Saab GM900 auto did just short of 218k before it died, not bad for one of Saabs less regarded cars.

My 2005 stilo jtd has only done 145k but i will try and get it to 200k eventually,it has original clutch and turbo and apart from service items has only needed an air flow meter, still drives very well and uses no oil, if it gets to 200k it will be a record for a stilo surely?.

My '93 Celica GT four has 186'000 miles on the clock. Pretty much all original apart from consumables, a clutch, windscreen and alternator. Everything else is original including the turbo etc.

My Yamaha XJ900s bike is on 148'000 miles.

My old '99 Accord had over 220,000 miles on it when we disposed of it, on original clutch with no changes of major components and just routine servicing.

Highways Agency???.

Serious mileage for a 2010 - and if the mpg showing on the dash is accuate - thats quite impressive fuel consumption for something the size and wieght of a Discovery 3.

DPF certainly gets plenty of opportunity to work with that amount of driving biggrin.

Family snotter has 182 k on it - and in theory should last more or less indefinitely with maintenance.

In reality - boredom could set in biggrin.

I would like to renew my membership, please.

She ticked over the mark on Monday! Had it since January and only fitted a thermostat so far. Needs a few bushes and I think the coolant temp sensor is on its way out. Oh and the battery is a bit weak.

Other than that, though, it runs smooth as you like on my daily 80-mile-round-trip commute. biggrin
