As far as I remember, a top Superbike can brake similar to a Civic Type R. The big sports tourers are slightly better though because of their wheelbase, I think the best is about 40 metres from 70mph.
I dunno about that, he hardly seemed to slow at all, stamp on the anchors in my Civic and it stops pretty damn quick !
Motorcycle News did a test on it to compare cars V bikes under braking a year or two ago IIRC, bear in mind that the test was done by one of their chief road testers and was/is on one of the top bikes available at the time, not a mid range commuter bike. smile

Also the guy in this video is clearly quite inexperienced/(fking retarded) so he may have had target fixation as well as probably not braking to the bikes full capabilities. But I agree, he hardly seemed to slow down in that video.

I think you'll find if you check the thread on the BB forum, 99% of people think he was a tool who made a massive error of judgement.

I'm one of the 99%.

Matlock Bath! Matlock is a completely different place.
Do you not go through one to get to the other? Or is it in a different universe as well?

Thankfully only bikers I met were riding well (phew) smile
It depends where youre coming from. Matlock is a largeish market town on the A6 and at the end of the A632 and A615. Its a county town and its population is about 15,000 in the town itself.

Matlock Bath is a village (pop: around 2,000)in a deep narrow valley with a steep tor on one side, about three miles down the road. It has a pointless cable car and lots of chip shops and amusement arcades on its river Derwent promenade.

Unfortunately the clowns at the local council (after renaing it Derbyshire Dales from West Derbyshire to make it sound more touristy) have moved the 'Matlock Bath' sign three miles up towards Matclock so that it includes the picturesque Artists Corner, making MB appear to be far larger than it really is.

Can you imagine living there on a sunny summer Sunday? hehe

poor skills, personally would have knocked it into second and gone past them on the back wheel on the hard shoulder.

Who films themselves driving on a public road? Was that destined for a BB of look at me speeding on my bike, which ended up being a look at me cocking it up and nearly killing myself.

I see his left hand went up towards his face just after he passed the mondeo, don't know what he was doing but it could have distracted him at a vital point.

Where did I say all bikers ride like that?
You implied it with the badly spelt: "Bike in being a dick shocka" comment.

If it was a video of a certain Honda being driven by a tt, would you post "DC2 driver being a dick shocka"(sic)?

A bit touchy today? Did you not get any last night?
Just fed up with moronic comments to be honest.

what a dumbass didn't he look up the road and see the two lorries ?

Too fast and a total lack of skill
He took his eyes off the road to adjust his left mirror.
When he looked up, the lorries were stopping.
He probably paniced and locked the back wheel.

This is an extremely common accident scenario.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see what happened here.
At least no one was hurt. When lorry drivers do this, the consequences are far worse, yet the warriors don't seem to slate them for their lapses of concentration? Very strange.

Some seriously low IQ responses here! :/

Anyway, not sure what the biker was doing – Mondeo was braking from way back and so he obviously wasn’t paying attention. He had a lot of time to brake, but even so, would have been better just filtering between the lorries if that was the case.

When I first saw it (no sound), I just assumed he was going for the filter and lost control.

Not really much to say other than he seemed careless.

Filtering would probably been ok but he aimed left first as it was further forward and only aimed for the gap once he knew left wasn't working.

I don't ride motor bikes but do know from push bikes that brakes can be your worst enemy. It takes some training to get the brain to realise when braking is going to make things worse and with a gap like that I doubt many apart from the mental/highly skilled riders would have committed. And the highly skilled ones wouldn't have been in that situation!!

It was probably a good thing that happened as riding like that he needed a lesson. If the merc saw a bike approaching and quickly pulled into the left lane (looks like he thinks about it and sees what's happening in time) he'd have had a much worse video to show.
