I've had my Cayman S for nearly 6 years and had been toying with the idea of upgrading it to SVP's Cayman SV spec. Question, would you invest £12k in upgrading a £16k car.....which will then be probably worth less than an original, or would you save (very) hard for the real thing, the GT4 and hope it becomes a depreciation proof toy?
Parr have an '06 Cayman Turbo for £25k. Might be worth a look.

no pdk-s means that this car cannot avoid the ''almost" label of the Cayman R.

it's been nobbled for no apparent reason, again. are they really going to race in gt4 with a manual box?

frustrated at the situation of Porsche treating the Cayman like a second class car. damnit.
It means it's not a direct competitor to the GT3 - surely that makes sense?

Besides, they're not going to race with a PDK-S. Cup cars use Holinger boxes.

Gearbox? Manual and manual only. Yes, really. "Its power is transmitted by a standard six-speed manual gearbox with dynamic engine mounts - there is no PDK transmission option." Cheers Porsche.
Why would you be pleased about a lack of options?

Agree, they have to keep it below the Carrera S, on paper at least. Given his comments about power, it's obvious not a detuned Carrera S engine and is likely putting out the same 400hp. I'm pretty confident it would better a manual Carrera S in a straight line.

It will be a much better drivers' car though.

As mentioned above, would be interesting to see what the lead times are.
Or even if the allocation has already sold out??

Looks great. I must be getting old as £65k seems like a lot for a Cayman.
It's because we're getting old. You can probably spend £40k speccing up a new Golf.
Graypaul have a showroom Boxster S which is £55K right out of the box. Options do make Porkers, well, porky! For that £65K you are getting something that is already specced with the important stuff and will hold its value much better than a cooking Cayman (if there is such a thing). As far as the 385hp is concerned Mr Andreas gave every indication that it was really around 400hp "zeez are gee tee horzpowerz!" or something like that.

It's not often that a new Porsche seems to be such good value, but this definitely does. I wonder would the bank loan me money for a 458 speciale and one of these, strictly for investment purposes of course! cool

Exactly, go mental and spec something like kermit green or that even more lurid almost kawasaki green seen on some 70's 911s if they can do it. I suspect though many of them will be white. My favourite would be the solid blue seen on some of the shots floating around on the net, looks a bit lighter than Maritime (my all time favourite Porsche colour) but nothing like as light as Riviera.

Available on the German configurator. Speccing the right options (such as buckets, Clubsport and a few niceties) makes this a €100k car essentially. You need to option the normal sized fuel tank like the 987 R and Spyder at no cost too if you want it to have range. Dunno if I am convinced, but it will certainly be a great car.

I think it looks better in blue with red calipers, but would still probably have mine in black smile

I'd guess it's no accident that it's rated slightly lower hp than the 991... As a drivers car the Cayman must be coming dangerously close to being a better option than a 991.

Will be interested to see how it fares in a road test.

Lovely, but I think I'd take a GTS still, in dark blue.
