This video of my Maserati with a standard exhaust gives a good idea of the sound it makes when you change down, in this case I was doing it manually rather then letting it change down itself.

I agree that the residents should get to live in peace and that they should target anti social drivers but this is not an example of that. The rest of your post is just uninformed bks.
How can it be uninformed bks when it's blatantly obvious that the driver gets his phone out and starts filming the coppers to wind them up? That is the action of a cretin.

The Maser driver thought he'd be 'Billy Big bks' and show off to his female companion by revving his car at exactly the same moment the police car passed.

The police car puts on its blues and twos (which may seem to be worse, but it's visible policing which the residents will like and it'll make other idiots think twice.

The fact the driver then proceeded to argue and start filming with his camera phone (we doubt he'll be claiming he's been victimised) shows the type of idiot he is. The officers should have shoved his phone where the sun doesn't shine!

Good on them, the residents deserve to be able to live in peace.
You're getting a bit carried away.

Was the bloke a pillock? Possibly.
Did he 'rev' his car? No, he down changed.
Did the police handle the situation well? No - looked like keystone cops... So bad it was funny.
Is disagreeing with the police and arguing necessarily a problem? You have more faith in them than I do, and looking at the way they handled this incident and themselves, I'm afraid that my position is more sensible than yours.

We should be respectful to the police, I've had no direct dealings directly with them for 20 years side I was a teenager driving st boxes but I'm respectful to everyone I meet irrespective. But if I was being treated like a noise nuisance when not sat there revving my engine (I wouldn't be) and not driving too quickly (I might be) I'd argue and make the situation as uncomfortable as I could.

Bloke in the Maserati might be a pillock, but he didn't deserve a sirens and lights comedy car chase in stationary traffic.

I notice that you completely ignore the part of the post before that that I was actually referring to.

Seems unlucky to me. I used to have an exhaust which could make 140dB on a road car, only comments I ever got from cops were "This is a bit loud isn't it?" To which I'd smile and agree. I once had someone call me from a couple of miles away and ask if I'd just given it the beans down a particular road. She maintained that she was inside her house at the time! Not sure my neighbours were very keen.

Wow! There must be than meets the eye with this one, a bit of overkill surely?

Reckon my TVR made more noise going down Leytonstone High Road yesterday, glad I live in East London. laugh

Then you should make some effort to write clear responses. You said his post was all bks apart from the bit about residents deserving to live in peace, I'm saying it's not. The police response did appear to be overly heavy handed (though we don't know the full story) but the Maser drivers actions confirm he's a bellend.

'V12 1RAK' is well known in the area (I've seen him many times, driving like a complete idiot) and is simply reaping what he has sown.

The idiots who have plagued this area for a long time are now reaping what they have sown. Given how often these boroughs feature in 'hired supercar madness' videos, it is hardly surprising. It did just sound like a normal, automated downshift though. I suppose there will be more to it, and the officers probably recognise the offending vehicle.

I certainly wouldn't ride my Triumph down those streets, I'd have to get off and push! laugh

I thought it was obvious given that numerous people had pointed out that he had not revved his engine but I should have been clearer.

What none of us know is if he's got history of hooning around and has a marker on his car.

I guess if he did and explained that the car downshifts itself and if they follow him it will do the same thing every time he slows down they might be more sympathetic however if he's known as being a arrogant tosser then there going to play it by the book aren't they.

I'm sure we'd all get fed up with cars constantly blasting down our roads at all hours.

He seemed to have attitude problem, videoing the police was laughable.

Currently have this problem on the narrow road outside my house, it's a 30 limit and a local moron insists on speeding up and down with his exhaust popping and banging on his Focus RS, numerous calls to 101 have been made by numerous residents for a couple of months now and still nothing has been done.

We have a couple of cars that like to do the same in our village every night, it's not big or clever.

I do it under the local railway bridge - sometimes, but I'm very conscious that people live either side.

However, there is a guy who's got an older Clio. He regularly picks up and drops off one of his colleagues. She lives on my floor in my building. His car is HORRIBLE. Screams down the road, bouncing off whatever limiter he must have on it. Revs the tits off it whilst turning around and wheel spins off. Without fail he does this EVRY SINGLE TIME he's here.
